Please don't attack me for this. This is something I realized after this watching this seasons Indian Idol and I would like to know your opinions.

I used to be a big fan of Sunidhi both when she first came into limelight( I followed her during Meri Awaaz Suno days) and through most of the time. The fandom was especially high due to songs like Crazy Kiya and Beedi Jalaile. Now, I don't live in India and don't generally follow live singing of these singers much.I haven't heard her sing live at all except for the time she came on Indian Idol once.

Now coming to the main point: I heard Sunidhi only in great detail during II when she was asked to sing various songs. First, of all I felt that she sings in a breathy manner ( I don't know how exactly to describe it-something like she ends each line with a audible breath to give it a western tinge). This is something I find it very annoying and not at all pleasant to hear.

Secondly, she has sung several old songs during the auditions and also when Asha Bhosle came onto the stage. To my ears, she didn't sound impressive at all when she sang these songs. I understand it is not her comfort zone but I expected a lot better from her.

Overall, my awe for Sunidhi has considerably lessened once I heard her singing on this show. However, this did not happen with the other singers in earlier seasons( Sonu, Udit, and Kailash Kher)

So I would like you all to give your opinions. Also, if you have any songs where she has sung old songs in any stage performance and you like them could you please post them here.

It is a lot easier to sing in the studio and it is a lot easier to sound good too - given the software aids that are used to colour the tonal quality of human voice. Singing live onstage without any "processing" sounds totally different.

Having said that I must add that Sunidhi is really good at singing live.

Thanks for replying. I realize what you are saying-the difference between singing playback and live. But I am asking specifically with respect to Sunidhi and especially with respect to old songs.

No one else is interested in this topic it seems😭
