Goblet of Fire DVD sells millions

Warner Brothers announced Wednesday that in its first 24 hours of being on store shelves, the Goblet of Fire DVD sold nearly 5 million copies. On this impressive accomplishment, President of Warner Home Video Ron Sanders had this to say:

We are extremely pleased with the out-of-the-gate success of the DVD release of 'Goblet of Fire. We knew fans really connected with this installment in the Harry Potter series, and that continued loyalty to the franchise has carried over to these phenomenal DVD sales figures.

WB also predicts DVD sales to remain "brisk" through Spring.

Vote for HP at Nick's Kids Choice Awards '06

Kids television station Nickelodeon has commenced voting for its annual Kids Choice Awards. Goblet of Fire is up for Favorite Movie and the entire series is up for Favorite Book. Your votes can be placed on the award site.

The Kids Choice Awards will be aired live from Los Angeles on April 1st. Thanks to Cody and Angelia for the tip!

J.K. Rowling Donation Helps Charity Fashion Show

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has contributed to the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Showto help raise funds for the Swaziland Charitable Trust and Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. This fashion show raisedsome 100,000 for charity, with proceeds going towards a new library, and a new school for children orphaned by AIDS in Swaziland. Our favorite author donated a signed set of all the Harry Potter novels for this event. TheScotsman reportson how Jo became involved in this project, quoting show organizers as saying:

"JK Rowling just happened to be in a department store at the same time as our chairman, Joshua Scales, who asked her if she could help out - and we were delighted to get a signed Harry Potter box set."

Readers might remember that Jo has made charitable donations for Maggie's Centrespreviously.

I checked out the elf.com site..I would have thought that for the movie they would have picked a girl with really really large eyes and silvery blond hair to play Luna Lovegood, whom by the way is one of my fave characters in HP..oh well I at least hope she is a good actress and exaggerates everything so that it is as funny in the movie as it was written in the book :)
