Times of India exclusive: It has been reported that a minor break-in has occurred at the official Mumbai residence of Abhimanyu Modi and Armaan Mallik. Noone was home at the time, apparently the duo was off on vacation in Japan and received messages from their butler confirming that someone has indeed burgled their high-rise luxury condo on the fourteenth floor. We got an exclusive interview with Armaan Mallik, who was kind enough to give us the full details of the case.
TOI: First of all, Dr. Mallik we hope you're having a fabulous holiday with Dr. Modi in Japan.
Armaan: Thank you, we really are, excepting what has happened back home.
TOI: Tell us Dr. Armaan, what have the police been able to uncover?
Armaan: Well I cant say much as the investigation is still pending, but they said it was an outside job, none of our staff would ever dream of taking anything from us, they have been with us for over two years.
TOI: That's good to hear. What exactly was taken, and what about the condo's state?
Armaan: This is the odd part, they didn't touch Abhi's collection of leather boots, my designer sunglasses or even our stock certificates which are worth loads of rupees. Nor did they disturb the priceless works of art inside the hallway or in the master bedroom.
TOI: what was taken then?
Armaan: They took about a hundred of our UB shirts and some jackets from our walk-in closet, we share a closet because we felt the other one could be used as a meditation space. It was rather shocking, really. Some of those shirts were Diwali gifts from Abhi to me and one item was a vintage leather jacket presented by John Abraham.
TOI: That is odd, they only took clothing? What could be the motive behind this?
Armaan: Well, Sir, we are aware there is a dire shortage of UB shirts in India right now ever since we started wearing them and appearing clean-shaven, the stores can't keep them in stock. That's why I installed an alarm system in the closet, so if anyone tries to disturb anything a signal will be activated and the Mumbai dept will be informed. The jackets were mostly purchased abroad.
TOI: Wow, I can't believe people would go to such lengths just to get a piece of clothing.
Armaan: I know, sir, it's terrible. And those shirts dont come cheap, either.
TOI: When and how do you plan to replace them?
Armaan: Since we are already on the road, on our way back we're going to stop in Paris and restock whatever we have lost. Our butler has already sent us a list of what was stolen.
TOI: how does Abhi feel about this?
Armaan: he feels just as I do, heartbroken. Somebody violated our personal space.
TOI: give him our best, will you? And hope they catch whoever did this to India's hottest couple.
Armaan: Will do. And thanks.
That was a exclusive statement from Dr. Armaan regarding the break-in at their upscale flat just a few days ago. Police have not released any further details about possible suspects but TOI promises to keep everyone informed of the latest developments.
