Aniruddh Dave in Karegi Mera Naam Roshan
(Sampurn Wire):A few days back, we'd reported on actor Farooq Sheikh opting out of Zee TV show Karegi Mera Naam Roshan. In that report, we'd also mentioned that Aniruddh Dave (Raaj Kumar Aryan fame) was offered a pivotal role. It is learnt that Dave has finally signed for this Hats Off Productions show.

Says a source, "Among all actors, Aniruddh was the last one to sign for the show. Perhaps, he must have had some other offer. Fortunately, he's opted for our show. He'll be playing the younger brother of the protagonist, Sana Sheikh. It's a negative role. Vikram Gokhale too has joined the cast. He'll be playing a cameo."

When contacted, Dave said, "I was in a dilemma as there were a few other offers. I'm doing a new show but I can't comment on it. You will get to know it goes on air."

This daily is expected to air in June.

Mera Naam Karegi Roshan's cast in Delhi!

The cast of Mera Naam Karegi Roshan didn't visit Janpath to stock up on souvenirs. But as they all wanted to soak in the Delhi feel, they later headed to India Gate.

However, as they strolled through Janpath and began exploring the shops offering interesting artifacts, Indian/western clothes and accessories, it made their visit a unique shopping experience. Read on...
Thanks a cot(ton): "Isn't the Cottage Industry Emporium somewhere near?" Lubna Salim enquired and quickly added, "You have to help me because it's been many years since I last came to Delhi. I want to get a lot of cotton suits as it's the most comfortable option in this sweltering heat." Looking towards a deserted lane in Janpath, she asked one of the shopkeepers, "Yahan pe Gujarati Market hoti thi. Kya band ho gai hai woh?" A few blocks ahead, she found the lane wherein women still sell Gujarati contemporary and antique textiles, much like the way they used to decades back. "This is what I was talking about. I remember, years back I came here with friends and bought junk jewellery. It was a rage then and I'm sure it continues to be a hit with the youngsters even today – those bangles, danglers etc."

Delhi waala stuff chahiye: "There's no point in buying Jaipuri or Kashmiri stuff as that I can easily get whenever I visit these cities," said Sana Sheikh. She added, "I have bought a contemporary necklace. Most of the girls in Delhi team contemporary jewellery with kurta and salwar for that typical Delhi look."

It's different in Delhi: "Dozen ke hisaab se actors dikhte hain Mumbai mein. It feels great to surprise people here. Actors walking in a flea market isn't a common sight in Delhi. I'm really enjoying their attention," said Yashpal Sharma who bought a cap for himself. Sufi was spotted interacting with children.

Yashpal Sharma hopes to break mould with small screen debut
Thursday, 08 July , 2010, 13:36
Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma has been mostly seen playing negative characters in films, but hopes to break the mould with his small screen debut by portraying his emotional side. The actor will be seen in Zee TV's Mera Naam karegi Roshan. "The characters I have played in the past have had negative shades to them but with this show Mera Naam karegi Roshan, I'm sure the viewers will get to see a lot of different shades of me. You will see me doing comedy, you will see my emotional side and at time you will even see me crying. Time to time you will see me breaking my mould," Yashpal told IANS. The 43-year-old, has worked in films like Lagaan (2001), Gangaajal (2003), Ab Tak Chhappan (2004), Apaharan (2005) and Singh is Kinng (2008). The actor revealed that he gets satisfaction in doing projects that give him scope to live his character. "Living my character 24 hours is what gives me satisfaction as a performer. When films are made in one schedule like Lagaan, that is what excites me. I don't like shooting in bits and pieces," he said. "And this show has given me that scope, as I am living my character all the time since I started shooting for it. I have put movies on hold because I want to give my 100 percent here." The show, to air from July 12, follows the life of a young woman and her crusade against injustice and inequality. The cast of the show includes Vikram Gokhale, Lubna Salim, and Sana Shaikh.

The actor, who has been in the industry for almost two decades shares his views on television serials. "When television soaps started on Doordarshan, with serials like Ramayan, and Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, people used to really want to watch it. The roads would be empty and everybody would gather in a room and watch the serials."

"But now, television has so many serials, and channels to offer that it has become hard for viewers to choose. There are, however, very few shows which viewers must be following on a daily basis because the scripts are not meaty enough to grab eyeballs."

Tellyactors wishing everyone Eid Mubarak
As the holy month of Ramzan comes to an end, Telly Actors gear up to celebrate the end of their month long fast. They reminisce about this festival, Eid and talk about their favourite food.
Lubna Salim (Jasoda of Mera Naam Karegi Roshan):

In my family, Eid is all about trotting on an elaborate gastronomical trail throughout the holy month and also on the day we break our fast. I love to cook and the elaborate feast makes sure the kitchen is abuzz with action. I remember queuing up with my cousins and siblings to receive Eidi from one of my uncles who used to keep a wad of crisp bank notes which he distributed among children. I still remember the thrill of receiving those "Karare notes". Being the eldest child of my parents I used to get the maximum amount of Eidi. In the evenings we used to pool in all the money and buy things which were on our priority list. Times have changed and my children demand designer clothes and Eidi in thousands. It's a tradition in our family that every year we go to Mohammad Ali road or Bhindi Bazaar and savor the delicacies there. On the day of Eid we call our friends and relatives for a feast and our Hindu friends love coming over and gorging on the "sewaiyaan, pulao, biriyani and sheer kurma" prepared by me.
Sana Shailkh (Reet of Mera Naam Karegi Roshan):

Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fitr means "to purify"; and so the holiday symbolizes the purification after completing the fasting month. This is the most special festival in our calendar and every year has been special. My favorite dish is the mutton biriyani and my mum makes the most scrumptious biryani in the world. In the evenings I used to spend my Eidi on eating out. There used to be

All's not well on Mera Naam Karegi Roshan
Buzz up!

If sources from the sets of Zee TV's Mera Naam Karegi Roshan are anything to go by things are not going smooth on the show.

Till recently, Sana Sheikh who essays protagonist Reet had almost decided to quit the show due to long shooting hours. To her respite came a new rule by CINTAA which declared that all the actors will not shoot beyond 12 hours a day. However, apparently, the channel was still keen on having her replaced due to her alleged tantrums. The production house had also conducted auditions to find a suitable replacement for Sana.

Informs our source, ''Sana has got engaged to Sharib Sabri (reality show contestant) and wants to settle down with him. Also she was unhappy with the erratic shooting hours and so she decided to quit the show. Sana had even informed the production house and given her notice period but once CINTAA announced the new rule, she decided to revoke her decision. Another issue with the actress was that she was giving tough time to the production house which still continues. Channel apparently wasn't too happy with her and had decided to replace her but TRPs have picked up which has worked in favour of Sana.''

''If that was not enough a recent argument between the director and post production head of the show had producer J. D. Majethia on his toes. The producer had to visit the director's house at 2:00 am in the morning to pacify and convince him to resume work'', adds our source.

When contacted, Sana Sheikh refuted the buzz and said, ''There are no issues and there is no truth to these rumours.''

We also sent a text message to producer J.D Majethia but didn't respond.

Dabangg flavour on Zee
Buzz up!

When the entire nation is dancing to the tune of Salman Khan's Dabangg, how can our television industry which has always been inspired by Bollywood remain untouched.

Discuss here

Television is now cashing on the skyrocketing success of the movie and rising popularity of Chulbul Pandey essayed by Salman Khan. Zee TV has incorporated a few scenes and look and feel of the characters of some of its shows Ala Chulbul Pandey and Munni. Nishant Shokeen's current look in Mera Naam Karegi Roshan resembles Chulbul and yet another protagonist of one of the shows titled as Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Suhasi Dhami danced to the tune of chartbuster song Munni badnam hui Ala Malaika Arora Khan.

Says Nishant, ''Both Sufi, male lead of
Mera Naam Karegi Roshan and I are in disguise. Where my look resembles Salman's Chulbul Pandey, Sufi will be in the disguise of a sardar. It's fun to be dressed up differently and I am getting rave reviews for my look on the show. We are in disguise as we have to make our way into Reet's house.''

Informs our source from
Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar, ''Sanskar has thrown a bachelor party for his friends post his marriage. During a performance by dancers, he imagines Swarnabha (Suhasi) dancing on Munni badnaam hui.''

All attempts to reach Suhasi remained futile.

With the movie breaking all the earlier records, we hope our daily soaps can too reap the benefit.

Watch
Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and Mera Naam Karegi Roshan at 8:30 and 10;30 pm respectively on Zee TV.
