The Zee Cine awards 2006 in Mauritius featured Bollywood with all its bells and whistles and while its all smiles for the camera apparently the new brat pack consists of Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, who spent most of their time together, while the rookies struggled to make new friends.
RJ Tarana went as a red carpet host and reported a rather turbulent moment, when (eager to leave) Shah Rukh Khan's private jet lifted off into a cyclone with a technical snag giving everyone a scare but recovered without incident. (Not so sure if that would have been the case if Mallika Sherawat had taken up that offer to hop aboard his chartered flight.)

The party at the Taj (for Gautam, Nawaz and baby Niharika Singhania) turned out to be as high profile as expected with stellar deco and a flare bartender, who kept setting things aflame and juggling them.
Nawaz looked stunning in a bright red sari for a change and amid the high-powered set of media and business tycoons, I spotted Bhagyashree and Shobhaa De. The show-stopper of the evening, however, was Vinod Khanna, who of late sports a Big B-inspired salt and pepper beard.
