Ok, sorry to be harsh but RS and his team of creatives have really really disappointed me. Bidaai and even other RS shows (YRKKH) were known for their simplicity and his shows were not OTT...the storylines were something that the average viewer could identify with. The relation that a mother has with a daughter, a daughter in law has with her mother in law, the bond between two sisters etc etc were all portrayed very beautifully and RS always claimed that he does not believe in vamps...just like in real life, there are no good or bad people but rather ordinary normal minded people who might mistakes given particular circumstances and so far that remained true to the story. Even though Choti Ma was kind of portrayed as a villian...she had her moments too...and the reason behind why she was what she was given..( That does not mean that all of us were happy with her ouster from the show, but it was still something that we learned to live with)..
Anyways, to cut to the point, this new storyline is really disheartening to see. A director and his team who had so much promise and had catapulted Star Plus to dazzling heights with their original and creative thinking have really hit an all time low on my opinion. Heres why:
1.Sadhnas death : I get that her death was needed to infuse so called life to the kind of dead show but the point is, this show was about two sisters and their beautiful bond and how they dealt with life obstacles together. With one of the sister dead, bidaai loses the essence for which it was known.
Though i think it lost that essence a long time back, but nevertheless, it should have always revolved around those two sisters.
2.Ranvirs death(?) : This characters disappearance has been the most hurtful so far (more so than even Sadhnas)...why u many ask? Because, the viewers were atleast properly prepared for Sadhnas death. We had those articles, we had those advertisements..we had the SBB/SBS segments..all that nice time leading up to her demise was shown in anticipation of it...she atleast had a proper send off!And from what little we saw, its clear that Khushi knows about her mother and her mother lives on for her through that video she was watching. Whereas this character- what does he get?! In return, he gets a daughter who does not even know about his very existence! We get his wife who loved him more than anything having to make do with quick stolen glances at his pic in her cupboard. I know the viewers will ultimately be informed about what exactly happened to his character through a series of flashbacks or something but i just think the way his character was written off was a big let down and was not tackled the right way and gave highest injustice to the fans. I can understand an actors choice to leave the show but its the creatives job to at least not hurt the viewers sentiments over it.
3. Anmol's introduction: Yes, Apurva is an amazing actor and his character is the ideal guy even though he has appeared in just one episode so far! So kudos to the creatives for at least getting that right. But my biggest problem with his character is as following. Why the name Anmol? Isn't it kind of sadistic that his name is the same as that given to Ranvirs character by Ragini? What exactly are the creatives trying to prove by this? Also, what was the reason for re-marriage by Ragini? Again, i know, i know, it will be shown in flashbacks as to why all that happened, happened. But really, if the only thing they show is that Ragini couldnt possibly raise two daughters by her own(Aalekh is not really a parental authority)..and the girls needed a 'fatherly' figure in their lives...then, that is a whole load of crap..(sorry to be so blunt)...in the real world divorced/windowed women are perfectly capable of raising their kids on their own. Why did Bidaai have to be so regressive to show that a woman needs a man to raise her kids? I really hope the reason for re marriage is different and not this!
4. Aalekhs condition: Tch tch. What do i say about poor Aalekh? The guy JUST got better and now back to this? Whats the point? Where are the doctors? During the mystery track it was shown that he would have gotten a lot better had it not been for the medicines that Choti ma used to switch in order to prevent him from getting better. So where are those medicines now? And why is he not okay if nobody is switching them? Also, it was revealed that Aalekh had a head injury before he got like this when he was a kid...isnt it kind of sick that the creatives make him like this all over again?! I would have preferred a quiet Aalekh who is always dressed in white, who keeps painting in his room...paintings of who else but Sadhna...and stays away from his daughter because she reminds him of that void in his life...it would have made way more sense than his present condition...The creatives are just playing with our feelings with being like this. I feel sad for him :(
Okay other important glitches that make sense of viewer sensibilities:
1. Pardon me if i get this wrong...but was the girl they showed in the first episode post leap, who was decorating Sadhna's pic, Gunni? Coz i think i heard her call Ragini bhabhi! Maybe i got her identity wrong, but i will assume it was gunni. Now, Gunni, when we last left her was around 7/8 i think? I mean she looked as old/ young as the current Khushi/ Tammy who are 7 years old...so post leap, Gunni would be 7+7= 14? Lets even give her a few years here and there...16/17? Still in school, right? so why did the girl they show look beyond her school years and looked older than that? And no offense to people who liked to dress up in salwar suits but i was really miffed with her appearance. After all, she belongs to the Rajvansh family and i would have expected her to be a little more modern than that. They are supposedly one of the richest families in the city and im sorry, but daughters of these households don't go around making two braids with ordinary looking salwar suits. It was kind of the way the Sagini used to dress up when they were introduced in the show. But it was okay for them...coz they were older...i blv 20/21 something...and they hailed from a simple household. But what happened to Vasu's keen sense of fashion now? How did she not transform her almost adopted grand daughter into a person who liked more fit to be in her class? Im sorry, but i just couldn't stomach how simple Gunni appeared.
2. Last but not the least, Today, when Anmol told Vasu that don't forget the 'CONTRACT" between is, it made me really angry. This so far has been the worst angle that RS could introduce in his shows. ITs the very thing that most viewers hated about the shows made by his contemporaries- to trivialize relationships and bound two people by contracts. This is worst thing that Bidaai could have ever introduced in its storyline. I know a similar contract was made between Sadhna and Vasu during the initial storyline...but i dont know, now it seems worse than before...this is just a show of course, and is not exactly meant to portray real life...but the fact that this show attempted to portray real life but has not made an about 180 turn from what it made out to do is pretty disconcerting.
Amidst all this, there is only one thing that keeps the show alive- Parul Chauhan. I think she is the reason that most of still tune into the show that was once Bidaai but is a ghost of its former self now. Is it me or has she been looking like a million bucks? And her acting just keeps getting better and better (if that was even possible)...Her acting in The death scene will forever the best scenes to be ever portrayed on Indian Television. I have never seen a better acting by any actor/ actress and i don't think we will get to see that in some time to come.
R.I.P Bidaai!
(PS...this came out way longer than i intended it to...so sorry for being such a blabber-er)
