After the molestation issue, it was good that in today's episode there was at least a mention of DNA sample.
There must have been struggle during the attempted rape.
If they can retrieve even a hair strand or dandruff particle from Nakul it is enough to prove Nakul guilty. Forensic analysis report will be available within 24 hours of submitting Mili's clothes.
Wish they would care to explain what DNA is.
For people who are unaware,
DNA is abbreviation for Deoxyribonucleic acid. In simple terms it is unique in an individual and no two individuals are the same or carry matching sequences not even Identical twin children. And its extracted from blood, body fluids, hair particle, saliva or tissues of an individual.
Based on sample material collected, the DNA material is sequenced. A suspected individual's (here the accused is Nakul)blood will be tested. If the DNA sequences of the sample material collected from Mili's clothes matches with that of the DNA sequences of Nakul's blood, he will be proven guilty.
For detailed information, type"DNA" and google search

i think this could be the idea from neil as he is a lawyer! That was a great idea on the part of cvs to show the concept of dna fingerprinting on the show. No dna fingerprints are same. Whenever we touch a object or anything our fingerprints fall on it!

Thanks for the informative post, mesimi. But i was just wondering, with the way they have been handling the evidence, will the DNA still be as easy to retrieve? As soon as Simi knew from Abhi that the clothes will be forensic tested, she should've placed them in a bag and kept it separate. It felt strange noticing Simi stuffing them back in with other clean clothes in Mili's cupboard and then later on, Neetu kicking them under the cupboard. 😕
Now, the clothes are in Nakul's possession, so he may just destroy them or bribe someone to create a fake report.

Prestigious,
Fake report is a totally different issue.
In whatever way the clothes may be handled, it is possible to retrieve the suspect's DNA sample.
There may be other people's sample also. Like Abhi,Simi,Neetu
In issues such as sexual assault and rape, the victim's statement about who the rapist or assaulter is will be taken as evidence. In the attempt to escape Nakul, even if Mili has scratched Nakul and Nakil would have bled, the possibility of retrieving traces of blood on her clothes would also be evidence.
Its a tedious task to retrieve DNA sample from very minimal blood, fluid or any other body tissue. But with advances in scientific technology and availability of ready made kits for DNA isolation, sample quantity as mimimal as 1.5 microlitre is enough. In case of dried up stains, the cloth material region with the stain is cut out, preprocessed, and then processed for isolating DNA.
Well that is the challenge in Forensic study.
Probably off topic here, you can PM me
