Urmi's snip-up, Sania back for centre and more...

Urmila Matondkar
"I cut my hair for the second schedule of Onir's Bas Ek Pal. The movie has both looks, long and short.

Dilshad has styled it for me and I think it's very French. I'm cool as long as I can experiment with my hair, though people in the industry are obsessed with my long hair.

I get more compliments when I let it grow out, the way it was at Fardeen's wedding and at the Stardust awards. The ones who know me well prefer me with longer locks — they say I have the best hair in the industry after Dimple."

Sania Mirza was the surprise guest at Kaya Skin Clinic's backless night.

She didn't take to the ramps dressed in Wendell Rodricks' bare-backed couture. Instead, Sania chose a lovely pink halter and covered it with a denim shrug.

She stuck to Suchitra Pillai and hosts Harsh and Archana Mariwala throughout her time at the party at Insomnia on Friday night.

We're guessing that after the fuss over the length of her tennis skirt, Sania chose discretion over 'backless', the theme of the evening.

Sania always gets shutterbugged wherever she goes and this time was no different. But she looked a little lost.

Perhaps she would have been more comfortable on a tennis court.

Sunita picks Shaina

Our Indian colour at Sunday's Oscars are 2003 nominee Ashutosh Gowariker and his wife Sunita.

And not to be overshadowed by Hollywood's A-list designer gowns, Sunita has picked a beautiful Shania NC black and maroon slit saree to dress up at the star-studded event.

Says Shaina, "Sunita saw some of my sarees and asked me to make something for her. The embroidery is very traditional but the silhouette is western since it has a slit. It's a maroon chiffon saree offsetted with black lace. She's wearing gorgeous white and black stone chandeliar earrings to go with it."

Here's to the saree stealing the show!
