That he will hold Khushi's fingers and teach her to walk and in turn, she will be his support system in the later years..thats the promise he wanted from Khushi, keeping Sadhna as the witness...it definitely points to a bigger picture....

But Alekh will not be able to teach Khushi walking as he will loose mental balance.

I dont think that will happen...but it might be Alekh wont be able to keep his promise, but little Khushi will take care of his father just like Sadhna... A daughter is called a "mother'...My father calls me "Ma"...
