Hi Everyone!

This is a pretty short update but hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Chapter 11: Projects, Projects, Projects Part 2

Meher clutched her stomach as tears rolled down her face from the laughter that was engulfing her body. The group had only been working for an hour before they got distracted and started to joke around. She regained her senses and wiped her cheeks, "That was the funniest story I've ever heard, John."

The blond hair blue eyed boy who sat across from her smiled, "It never fails to entertain. He was one crazy teacher that Mr. Spade."

"I can't believe he stole the coins from the coin drive...and stuffed them in his pockets," Rano laughed. "He must have had some really deep pockets."

"I still can't get over the fact that he climb in between the ceiling tiles and then fell into one of the classrooms trying to crawl his way into the main office!" Keri tittered. "I can only imagine the look on the officers' faces when they came in to investigate and saw this huge hole in the ceiling."

Preet chuckled, "I'm going have to remember this story. This one's a classic." He smiled inwardly as he noticed how much Meher was enjoying herself. The bubbly laughter was causing his thoughts to wander once again to what Kulraj had said to him earlier in the day.

Unaware of Preet's thoughtful gaze, Meher finished her glass of juice soothing the dryness in her throat. She looked around the room and noticed that everyone else also needed refills. "I'm going to the kitchen to get more juice. You guys want more?" she offered. Rano, John, and Keri all nodded and gave their thanks. Preet watched her leave and then quickly grabbed the half empty bowl of chips heading towards the kitchen. Meher smiled at him when he entered the room, "Getting more chips?"

"Yea," he simply replied.

His sister Veera soon entered the kitchen yawning sleepily as she headed straight for the pantry looking for something to eat. "Preet, did you eat the last of the crackers?" she accused.

He shook his head, "No, there should be half a box there."

"I'm looking and I don't see anything," she whined. "You ate all the crackers didn't you."

Preet frowned and walked over to the pantry trying to help her find the box of crackers. After a few minutes he put his hands on his waist, "Looks like their finished."

"But I was so craving them after my workout," Veera continued pouting.

Meher bit her lower lip, "Um, I think I finished the box. I'm so sorry, Veera. I put them out for the group to have as a snack."

Veera shot a quick glare towards her direction and then remembering she was in front of Preet she closed her eyes and calmed herself. "It's okay, Meher," she said through a tight grin. She walked over and opened the refrigerator trying to find something to drink instead. "What happened to the last bottle of Vitamin water? I could have sworn I saw it this morning."

Meher lowered her head as she her hand rose meekly replying, "I finished it."

Veera tighten her mouth as she lost her temper, "Is there anything else I should know about?"

"I'm so sorry Veera," Meher apologized. "I'll buy some more crackers and Vitamin water."

Veera just continued to seethe with annoyance, "Just cause Ma and Bauji said you could come over doesn't mean you can just eat whatever you like. There other people living here you know. We need to eat too."

"Meher, you don't have to buy anything," Preet ordered. "You can eat and drink whatever you want. The food here is for everyone to share." He then shot his sister a dirty look, "Veera, the world's not going to end just because you didn't get to have crackers and Vitamin water. We've got plenty of other stuff you can eat and drink. If you want your crackers so badly go buy them yourself. Beside tomorrow's grocery day Ma will get another box so cool it!" Veera looked at Preet surprised by the tone of anger in his last sentence. He had never raised his voice at her like that before. She folded her arms and turned huffing as she walked away.

Meher looked on worried and scared that she had been the cause of the trouble. Preet soften his voice as he turned towards her, "Don't worry about it Meher. She always acts like this."

"But Preet..." Meher replied.

Preet put up his hand for her to stop, "She'll live. Nothing to feel guilty over, okay?" He then gave her a cheesy smile, "Come on we have more important things to think about...like is there a part two to Mr. Spade's story." Meher cracked a giggle. "That's more like it. You look better when you smile," Preet complimented.

The two returned to the living room and hung out with their group for another thirty minutes before they all decided to call it a day. Preet and Meher walked everyone to the front door and saw them off. Preet was glad Meher was back to her lively self again. "You know they are so much fun to hang out with," she gushed as they closed the front door. "We should go hang out sometime."

Preet mumbled as he pondered to himself, "Yea, we should." And for the hundredth time that day Kulraj's words ran through his mind. He looked at Meher's smiling face and said, "Maybe we should go out...like for a movie."

Meher clasped her hands, "That would be great. We should call them and set a date."

"Call them?" Preet murmured. "No, I mean...we should go out," he explained.

"I know we should," Meher smiled.

Preet moved his finger pointing between them, "We should."

"Yeah, so who's going to call?" Meher asked excitedly. Preet's mouth dropped slightly open when he realized she wasn't getting what he was hinting at. "Should I call?" she continued to ask.

"No!" Preet suddenly yelled in frustration. Meher just continued to look at him with happiness. The look of anticipation and excitement on her face was too much for him to handle. He couldn't break it to her what he meant. The fear of rejection was slowly sinking into his mind. He really didn't know how she would take it if she knew he wanted to try going on a date with her. "I mean no, don't worry about it..." Preet continued lowering his voice so it didn't sound like he was shouting. "I-I'll handle everything..." then suddenly an idea floated through his mind and he grinned, "yea...yes, movie next week sounds really nice...you don't worry about it. Remember I'm the party planner. Just worry about what you are going to be wearing."

Meher just smiled happily and nodded unaware of what Preet's true intentions were, "Okay."

Kunal brushed the lint off his jacket as he entered the coffee shop. He scanned the room trying to locate the familiar faces of his friends. He smiled as he saw Heer waving her hand; Sanjana and her were sitting in the back corner. As he made his way through the caf Sanjana quickly grabbed her purse and placed it in the seat next to hers. She pretended to be searching for something important. It was as if she had sensed that he was going to sit next to her. Kunal momentarily stop and shifted his direction; moving from the left to the right and sat down next to Heer. "Sorry, guys I got caught in traffic. Prem should be here any minute I saw him circling the parking lot," he explained. He looked over at Heer's coffee cup with curiosity, "What did you get?"

"Oh, just the cafe mocha," she replied. "It's pretty good."

"What about you Sanjana?" Kunal asked.

"Got the espresso. It's pretty strong," she answered.

"Hmm, I could go with something strong right now. I've been up late the last couple of nights...writing papers," Kunal said as he yawned. He opened the folder he had been carrying and passed out some papers to the girls, "Here's what I have so far for the background write up. Double check my grammar and spelling would you. It's a little hard to catch them when you've been proof reading it for the fifteenth time."

"Hey guys, sorry about the wait," Prem greeted as he sat down next to Sanjana.

"Just in time," Kunal said as he handed him his copy of the report. "Let me know what you think."

Now that everyone was there the group began their meeting. Each person reported on the work they were doing, the parts they completed, and asked for advice on how they could improve. Two hours later they were almost ready to pack up and leave.

Prem took a sip of his coffee and smiled, "Looks like we are almost done with this thing."

"I can't wait to get this big project over with," Heer replied. "One down and three more to go."

"I know...it's like never ending...you finish with one and then another one starts up or needs to be turned in," Kunal complained.

"Are grades really that important?" Sanjana joined in. "I thought we went to school to be enlightened. Shouldn't that be enough? "

Prem sniggered, "Well, they gotta pay the professor for doing something," he rolled his neck, "I can't wait for the semester to end."

"Here, here," Kunal replied in agreement. "It's like I have no social life right now. It's like school, work, home...those are the only places I see all the time."

"Hey, let's go see a movie next week after this presentation thing is over," Prem suggested. Everyone at the table happily agreed to the suggestion except for Sanjana who wore a slightly tense expression on her face. She was hoping that when she had suggested the movie idea it would only be her and Prem going out together.

"Next weekend, right?" Kunal asked. "I can definitely make it..." then suddenly realizing, "...oh, no I can't. I have this family thing I gotta do."

Prem smirked teasingly, "A family thing, huh? Something involving rings?"

"Rings?" Kunal repeated with a confused expression on his face. "It's my grandmother's birthday why would it involve rings."

Prem rolled his eyes, "Oh, I don't know..."

A sudden realization fell over Kunal's face, "No way. It's my grandmother's birthday. You don't think...nah, it can't be," he tried to reason. "They wouldn't set me up with someone there. But then again Grandma keeps saying how she wants to see great grandchildren. Oh, dude...that's not good." He quickly looked at Heer with a panic stricken face, "Can I borrow your computer for a second."

"Sure, Kunal," Heer replied relinquishing her laptop to him. "What exactly are you doing?"

He furiously tapped away at the keyboard, "I'm going on Shaadi.com. My mother made a profile of me I bet. I've been saying this but I just haven't had a time to search." Prem sniggered at his friend's reaction. Sanjana and Heer couldn't help but laugh despite feeling really sorry for him over his paranoia.

"I'm sure you are not on there," Heer tried comforting.

"Hey, don't you have to like be a member to have full access to everything," Prem said continuing to tease his friend. "How are you going to find your profile?" The girls gave him a don't keep pushing his buttons look. Prem just mockingly grinned.

"You're right, man. I won't be able to find myself if I don't log in. I'll have to create an account," Kunal replied and started typing away again. "Prem Juneja...23 years of age...born..."

"Hey, what are you using my name for?" Prem shouted in protest.

"I need it to log in," Kunal explained. Prem furrowed his eyebrows while the girls laughed that his teasing had backfired on him.

"Why didn't you use Heer or Sanjana?" Prem complained. Both girls shot him a dirty look.

"Cause it's funnier using you," Kunal replied. "Okay I need a picture. Heer you got a picture I can use?"

"You can't use a picture of me," Prem objected. "It's bad enough you made an account using my name but not my picture."

"Okay, okay Mr. Crybaby. I won't use your picture," Kunal said.

"Here use a picture of my brother Nihaal," Heer laughed as she found a picture of him.

"Cool, okay almost done," Kunal reported eagerly.

For the next thirty minutes Kunal sat in deep concentration clicking his way through the website trying to locate his profile. Prem checked his watch and sighed, "If you haven't found anything now I'm pretty sure you aren't on there."

"You never know with these things. I'm searching every single profile out there matching my age," Kunal explained.

"That's going to take forever. Do it on your own time," Prem requested.

"Okay fine," he replied and logged off the computer. "Thanks, Heer. You're brother's not going to mind is he...the picture and all."

Heer laughed, "Anytime Kunal. Nah, I don't think he'll mind cause he's not going to ever know about it. Though, it should be interesting to see if anyone responds to his profile. Maybe you can give me the login password so I can check on it? Heh, I could be a matchmaker for him. That will be one thing my parents won't have to worry about...hehe..."

Kunal chuckled grabbing a pen and piece of paper, "Yeah, I'll write it down for you."

As the meeting official came to the end everyone started to slowly pack up their things. Sanjana held her coffee in one hand while the other pushed her chair in. She moved towards the exit waiting for Prem to push his chair out of the way. As she walked forward her left foot tripped over the chair leg propelling her towards Prem who was in the process of putting on his jacket. The lid of her cup flew open as Sanjana collided with Prem's chest spilling the entire contains onto his shirt. Sanjana momentarily enjoyed the closeness with Prem's body before pulling back and apologizing profusely for staining his shirt with coffee. She quickly grabbed some napkins from the table and proceeded to blot away the stains.

"Well, at least you're going home now," Kunal replied.

Prem stood with his arms up as Sanjana dabbed away. After a few minutes, "Um, I think I'm going to be fine now. It's okay. I'll take care of it," he said.

"I'm really sorry, Prem," she replied.

He shrugged his shoulders, "It was an accident. No big deal." He put on his jacket and zipped it up.

"You better get going before the stain sets in," Heer advised.

"It's getting pretty cold at night...better make a run for it to the car or you'll freeze," Kunal said.

Prem nodded and with the rest following behind him as they all exited the coffee shop heading to their prospective cars.
