Fashion, glamour and style are the three words that come naturally to her. Until recently her anglicised accent was familiar to MTV viewers. "I loved VJ-ying because you can be spontaneous and original. But I've bid goodbye to VJ-ying for now," she reveals. Films She has two big banner thrillers in her kitty. She is a part of the Hindi remake of Charlie's Angels. In the film, Malaika plays a lively, fun-loving character, and says she has enjoyed the part very much. "I was quite fond of the original so I jumped at the chance of being a part of the remake. The shooting is on so I'm having a blast. I've always loved thrillers," said Malaika, who married actor Arbaaz Khan in 1999. "So it was a great opportunity for me to do these films. They are both big banner films with big name directors and are out and out thrillers, full of action and mystery." TV shows She will soon be hosting a show on women. "Yes, I'm hosting a women oriented show which is going to be unique. The ads will go on air soon so I needn't say much about it at present," says Malaika. After a short break Back from a rejuvenating and "well deserved" break from Singapore, she epitomizes the fine balance between home and work. "Arhaan loved the trip to Sentosa Island. I had more fun because he was enjoying himself so much. Now it's back to the grind of the glamour industry." New careers She shares a secret. The gorgeous Malaika Arora-Khan is all set for a new career in singing. "Yes, it's true. I want to sing in an album. It began when I featured in the Gore Nal Ishq Mita music video. Right now I'm not sure if it will be pop or rock but romantic it will be for sure. It will be an explosive video with equally explosive music." She doesn't see herself in the glamour industry for long. "I'm planning to come out with a clothing line. This diva is going to portray her original mantra of haute couture. The line will be simply called "Malaika." She also plans to open a chain of restaurants. "I'm planning to enter into the hospitality industry as I'm a big foodie and would love to feed all my fans too," she reveals. Home and career "It's all about managing your time," she says matter-of-factly about jostling both career and family. "When Arhaan was born I took a two month break and was back in action with India's Best Cinestar Ki Khoj on Zee TV." It was a reality show and as I had to be myself I just went there and did what I thought was best. It was a good experience as I played the role of a friend, philosopher and guide to the participants. That was the first reality show which was novel, now there is one on every channel." Dancing diva "I enjoy dancing more than acting that's why I haven't done much films." The Chaiya Chaiya number was the one, which made her rule the roost with item numbers. Even till date the best of item songs are offered to her. "Dancing comes naturally to me. I just love to shake even at home when I'm doing nothing," she giggles. Even Nach Baliye was a fun experience. Those couples who started off slowly ultimately went on to win the race which is a big lesson to learn." Attitude How does she manage to get so friendly with anyone whom she speaks to? "It's all about attitude. I'm basically a very friendly person so that comes across on screen." Especially when she hosted Style Mantra on SaharaOne there seemed to be a certain rapport that she shared with every celebrity. "The show was about what is the trend and what is not, the highlight being the celebrity interview. It was an informal chat with a celebrity about his or her inspirations, clothes and personality. For a fan of that particular person, it would be no less than a good peek at his or her fashion secrets," says Malaika. Style mantra Malaika says she sets her own style mantras. "Black and white are always in fashion. I also like pink and turquoise blue. And if you ask me in which outfit I am most comfortable in, it is definitely blue jeans and a T-shirt," she says giving away her secret. |
