PART 4
What I Didn't Know
Gunjan stood in front of the mirror in the washroom, talking to her inner self.
Gunjan: What, huh? Why are you getting nervous? He is your best friend, right? Then why the heck are you getting nervous?
She took a slight pause to look carefully at her nervous and disturbed expression and then continued.
Gunjan: Okay now, take a deep breath (follows her own instruction) and chill....everything is fine. Go and have some fun (smiles confidently).😊
Reason Remains Veiled
I saw Chashmish coming out of the washroom and waved at her to grab her attention but she probably didn't notice, and I guess I knew why.
A drunk guy, who seemed to be in his late teens was purposefully blocking her way and suddenly he grabbed Chashmish by her wrist. Out of reflex, I rushed over to the site, boiling with anger.😡
Me: Haath chhod ladki ka.😡
Guy: (Pushing me) Ey jaa na, teri item thodi hai? Paka mat aur apna raasta naap.😡
A gush of venomous anger rushed through my veins at the word 'item' and I grabbed the guy's throat tightly.😡 But the guy was stubborn enough; though he struggled to free himself but he didn't let go of Gunjan's hand.
Me: (through clenched teeth) Haath chhod warna''.😡
I growled these words in a low voice as I squeezed his throat harder.😡
Gunjan: Samrat leave him, you are strangling him.
The guy finally released her hand and I forcefully pushed him back. He fell back onto the bar, massaging his throat, gasping for breath and cursing.😡🤬
Me: Chalo yahan se Gunjan.
I turned and stomped out of the place to my car and Gunjan followed and everybody's stare followed us too. I was breathing hard to calm myself down.
Gunjan: What was that Samrat? Kya zarurat thi use ladne ki? You could have killed him!!😲
Me: He deserved that!😡
Gunjan: What?😕
Me: He deserved that. How dare he hold your hand, how dare he even touch you? That bloody son of a''..😡🤬
I stopped myself from swearing. I had promised myself long ago that I will never swear, especially in front of Chashmish.
Gunjan: Par tum itna gussa kyun kar rahe ho?😲
Me: Of course main gussa karunga. Tumhare saath koi battameezi kare to main shaant kaise reh sakta hoon?😡
Gunjan: Why the heck do you care so much about JUST AN INTERNET friend?😲😕
Me: You are NOT "Just an internet" friend!
Gunjan: Oh yeah? What am I then?
Me: You are my''''.my best and only friend.
We just stared at each other. I knew that Chashmish wasn't convinced.
Me: Dekho Chashmish, the only people I care about is my family, you and Benji and the people who are important to you and Benji. And I can't bear to see something wrong happening with the people I care about, get it? Look I'm sorry I lost my cool and got violent in there, I know you don't like violence but I couldn't help it.
A sweet small smile appeared on Gunjan's face.😊 The sight of her smiling face calmed me down and I replied with a smile as well😊, though the reason to my anger remained veiled from my 'life'.🥺
We traced the route from Appu Ghar to Pitampura in a short time although they are poles apart. It is amazing to see how fast time flies when you are around someone you like (and if you are around someone you LOVE, tab to baat hi kuch aur hai!😉).
I stopped my car outside Gunjan's bungalow and sped out to Gunjan's side of the car to hold open the door for her (some small 'gentleman' tricks😛). She slid out of the ca gracefully. Her graceful movements always left me slightly dazed.🤢
Gunjan: Thanks Sam, today was the best day of my life.😊
Me: Kya yaar, kar dia na insult thanks bolke!😒
Gunjan: Okay, I get the point. I take back my thanks. Happy?😆
Me: Very.😆 Anyway, your best day isn't over yet. I got something for you.😊
She waited patiently, watching me with curious eyes 😲while I pulled out a snow globe wrapped in a silk cloth with a ribbon (Om Shanti Om style😛😆). I gave it to her and she unwrapped it. The snow globe depicted a beautiful young girl sitting on a bench in a meadow, reading a book and using a red rose as the bookmark.❤️
Gunjan: Wow Sam, its beautiful.🤗
Me: Just like you and just for you.😃
Gunjan: But I can't keep it.😒
Me: And why is that?
Gunjan: I'..I don't know'but'I just can't keep it. Thanks a lot for considering me worth of this but''.you got to take it back.😒
Me: Fine then, don't keep it. Chuck it into the garbage.
I turned away from her adamantly, seeing everywhere except her, showing as much fake anger as possible.😡
Gunjan: But....😒
Me: No ifs and buts. You don't want to keep it, you can bloddy well chuck it but I'm not taking back what I have already given away. That's final and not even you can change my mind.😡
Gunjan: Even if I say "Please"?😛
Me: Even if you say "Please"!!😡
Gunjan: Okay okay, I'm keeping it. Now turn around and look at me and stop showing that fake anger, you are bad at it. (Chuckling)😆
I turned to look at her in disbelief.😲
Me: How in the world did you know I was faking it?😲
Gunjan: Hum best friend yunhi nahi bane janaab!! (Winking)😉😆
I rolled my eyes at her as she giggled harder.
Gunjan: (Still chuckling) Ab main chalu ya aur bhi koi surprise baaki hain?😆
And then I thought, this is it, this is the time. I should tell her everything now. But the words choked in my throat itself and died away. All I managed was a monosyllable "Goodnight" with a smile. Her look said that I had thrown her off guard. I guess she expected a little more than just one word, so I started ranting off.
Me: Goodnight, sweet dreams, love you and miss you always, take care and have fun. I hope to see you again tomorrow.😃
Gunjan: Chatting kar rahe ho?
Me: Ummm''.nahi.
Gunjan: To kya badbada rahe ho?
Me: Nothing'''.Just my style of saying 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'.😉
Gunjan: Ugh!! Not your stupid dialogues again.👎🏼
We both laughed.😆
Gunjan: Chalo, andar chalo.
Me: Not today, phir kabhi.
Gunjan: Pakka?
Me: Pakka.
Gunjan: Cool then. Goodnight.😊
And she waved me goodbye and walked away.
Half an hour later, my car was back in my garage and I was back in my bedroom, on my bed with my guitar, playing a new unknown tune and refreshing the vivid images in my mind of all the events that happened today. Time crawled away and I had no idea when I fell asleep.
Good Old 'DELHI'
I am now back in Bangalore, slogging with office work again. Not slogging actually; its just that I had spent 10 most amazing days with my life and I believe these 10 days to be the best days of my entire lifetime till date.😃😍 These 10 days had expired 2 months ago and I am missing Gunjan like anything.😭
So this is it. I decided to pack my luggage and march off to Delhi. Just half an hour more and I'll be standing in Delhi Airport.😃 I guess half an hour seems to be a very long time especially when I have been anticipating to meet Gunjan again. I somehow managed to drag myself through these 30 long minutes and I'm going to my Nanu's place now.
Destination reached. Now all I got to do is dump my luggage, change and rush out to Gunjan's office and pick her up and I did just that.
In front of Gunjan's office-
Me: Hello Princess, my car is empty. Why don't you get inside and take a seat?😉
Gunjan: What the''..?❓ Samrat? You are back!!😲
Me: Of course I am. Ab jaldi baitho.😊
She sat in and fired a thousand questions at me all at once.❓
Gunjan: What are you doing here? How come you are back so fast? How long are you going to stay? Where are you staying? When did you come? Why didn't you tell me you are going to come? Arrey bolo na, chup kyun ho?❓
Me: Tum mujhe bolne dogi to na main kuch bolunga.
Gunjan: Okay sorry, ab bolo.😳😛
Me: Hello Miss Gunjan Bhushan. I am Samrat Shergill, the Managing Director of IBM,-
Gunjan: Cut the crap Samrat!🥱
Me: Delhi!!😉
Gunjan: What?? Delhi? Tumhari transfer-?😲
Me: Yup. Ab main yahan ka permanent resident hu. Nanu ke ghar thehra hu.
Gunjan: Wowie!!😃⭐️👍🏼
From that day onwards, the two were inseparable. They had very little time to spare to anybody else. Gunjan had been a resident of Delhi since the time she was born but she didn't know half the places in Delhi. But the scenario now was slightly different, thanks to Samrat.👏⭐️
