"I would rather do a good serial than a bad film" – Sarwar Ahuja
Sarwar Ahuja's acting career took off with the Zee TV's reality show 'We Are India's Best' and now the actor is once again set to play a second inning with the channel. He will be seen in the title role of Balaji Telefilms show Keshav Pandit. He got candid with media at the launch event and spoke at length about the show and the surprise he got at the event.
How it feels to be on the cover page of the book Keshav Pandit?
I am surprised. I really had no idea of this. It has not yet sink in me so my reaction is still to come.
This is your second inning with Zee TV.
I guess mine and Zee's Kundali matches well.
Tell us about the serial.
The story is based on a Hindi novel Keshav Pandit. It's about a man who had a tragic childhood and has served 10 years of jail. But when he comes out he becomes a messiah for people and helps them in seeking justice.
Have you read the novel?
I have just read in portions that could help me for this character. Otherwise I had not read it before but now I am looking forward to it. I am not much in to reading Hindi.
How is it possible for the commoners to trust Keshav Pandit who has served jail imprisonment?
You trust police, you trust lawyer and you still don't reap justice so give a try trusting Keshav Pandit too. Not trusting Keshav is not his loss but not also your gain.
How has been the experience of shooting for Keshav Pandit?
I have never encountered any such incident where I have to face lawyers or policemen so for me too Keshav Pandit is learning experience same as audience. Episode after episode even I am learning the laws that empowers us.
With this serial you have become a part of Balaji Telefilms.
I respect Ekta a lot as being a woman she's brought the difference in male bastion. She talks very less but I believe her work does all the talkings for her. When I spoke to her for the first time, it gave me a feeling that I am talking to someone who has fought all the odds in her life.
This is your second serial and the male-dominates show.
Yes, it brings along lot of responsibilities to match up to the standards of the book that was written decades ago and has been a big hit with readers.
What do you have to say about what Ekta just said that she was looking for a mix of Amitabh and Dharmendra for this role?
Look when we audition we are given a brief of the character so if we are close to it by even 50% we are in. I guess I was close to what she was looking for and I bagged the role.
You started off with reality show so are you taking up any?
I am already doing two shows so I will not do any reality show for now. If I can't put in my hundred percent in any thing I would rather not do.
What's happening on film front?
I would rather do a good serial than a bad film.
