I agree with you Appu. Even I expected a negative reaction and say "baaki bahue nahi hai iss ghar mein?'
She thought of this issue ONLY from Ishaan's marriage POV. And missed the bigger picture as how it would affect Suhana's relationship with other family members.
By providing AC in Ishaan's room, the probability of her accepting Ishaan is 50/50. But the other members of the family forming an undesirable opinion about Suhana is 90%. I wish she hadn't agreedconvinced badi maa. They took the other two bahus for granted.
Last June when I went to India for a niece's wedding my jhetji booked an AC room for me and my husband just to keep me comfortable as I am not used summers in India any more. I have never been to India in summer after I moved to US. It was indeed very thoughtful of him, but the rest of the family members did not like that idea of me being treated differently than others... Rest of my stay everyone gave me a cold shoulder... I did not want an AC room but I was compelled. I opened up my room to everyone, woh bhi logon ko pasan nahi aayi... so family dynamics are very delicate.
