'Half-Blood Prince' released in Spanish

Harry Potter y el Misterio del Principe, the Spanish translation of the sixth Harry Potter book, was released worldwide at 12:30 PM EST today. Maria Amor Calleja, the manager of Madrid's largest bookstore, said, "Harry Potter's publishing house has waited until the end of the day to create maximum expectation. This doesn't happen with any other book. There is real Potter-mania in Spain."

One million copies of the Spanish translation have been distributed to booksellers around the world, and they are expected to sell out in the coming weeks.

Scholastic announces HBP sweepstakes

Starting next Wednesday, March 1, Scholastic will be holding a six-week-long online sweepstakes in an effort to help promote the paperback release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on July 25. The grand-prize winner of the sweepstakes will receive a Harry Potter iPod, all six audiobooks, and a deluxe edition copy of Half-Blood Prince.

Sweepstakes winners will be announced on May 1 at Scholastic's Harry Potter website.

'Goblet of Fire' wins NME Award

'Goblet of Fire' has won the award for Best Film at the NME's. Jarvis Cocker, who contributed music to the fourth film's soundtrack, collected the award on behalf of all involved.

Christian Coulson talks Harry Potter

BBC Norfolk has a new interview with Christian Coulson, who portrayed young Voldemort in 'Chamber of Secrets'. Amongst other things, he expresses a desire to return for 'Half-Blood Prince'.

"I hadn't read the books until I auditioned. They saw about a thousand people, in the end they got down to three and then they camera tested me and that was it," said Coulson.

"Of course it was exciting. The part really chimed with me when I read the book and I felt very strongly there was something I could bring to the character.

"When the sixth book came out last year [Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince] he's back in it and I felt those feelings again," he added.

No Mundungus Fletcher, Trelawney present for film 5

We have just learned that Mundungus Fletcher will not appear in OotP after all. They have cut his character from the film.

Warner Bros will not comment, but we have been assured this is the case.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that Mundungnus Fletcher isn't in the 'Order of the Phoenix' script however Professor Trelawney is. This doesn't mean it's set in stone and could be subject to change.

4th "Potter" is No. 5 on all-time overseas list

</>Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" has crossed the $600 million mark in international receipts and ranks fifth among all-time international releases.

It sits behind "Titanic," the all-time champ with $1.2 billion in international grosses; "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($752 million); "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," the first Potter movie ($657 million); and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," the second ($616 million).

The third installment, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," ranks ninth internationally with $545 million.

Since its release in November, "Goblet" has collected cumulative grosses of $91 million in Japan, $84 million in the U.K., $62 million in Germany, $55 million in France, $26 million in Australia, $23 million in Spain and $21 million in Mexico, according to Sue Kroll and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Bros. Pictures International's president of marketing and president of distribution, respectively.

Adding its domestic grosses, "Goblet" ranks eighth on the worldwide list.

Production has begun on the fifth Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," with David Yates at the helm, for release next year.
