Well, I have some questions in my mind which disturb me each time I read Harry Potter. Please take time out to answer!

1. In Harry Potter, it has been maintained that no evil witch/wizard has emerged from any House other than Slytherin. How is that possible when we all know that Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail) was a Gryffindor! Please don't reply by saying that no one knew of his true nature uptill the 5th book; because if that is so, then what about Sirius Black, who, until then was a convicted murderer?

2. Voldemort could not kill Harry because Lily died to save him. Voldemort could not kill anyone in the Hogwarts battle after Harry cast himself before Voldemore, trying to save all in Hogwarts. But then, why could Voldemort kill Lily? James too had died in order to save Lily and Harry, telling the former to take Harry and go! Was James' sacrifice not enough to evoke the magic?

3. Harry spotted Thestrals in the 5th book, while he saw Cedric die in the 4th. He should have been able to see those Thestrals on his way back to the Hogwarts Express, where the students are led by the Thestral-driven carriages. As a baby, Harry had also seen Lily die. So, he should have spotted Thestrals even earlier.

4. Harry's Invisibility Cloak (one of the Hallows) was said to be impenetrable to most curses and jinxes. But then, how could Dumbledore immobilise Harry at the top of the Astronomy Tower before he died (at that time, Harry was wearing the Cloak). Even Draco Malfoy was able to perform the body-bind curse (Petrificus Totalus), when Harry was sitting in the luggage rack of the compartment in Hogwarts Express, wearing the "impenetrable" Cloak!

I would be back with more questions after these questions get answered 😆

1) Wormtail was good in the begining(when he was young).

i think he moved to dark side and became evil only when he gave away the secret place of potters since voldemort threatened him.so from that time he became faithful death eater.
2)He intended to kill james and harry not lily(under the prssure from snape)she died on her own will without defencing herself trying to save harry and harry died on his own will in order to destroy the soul of voldemort in him without defencing himself .
3)At that age i think he did not know what magic was.
4)I will answer later i want to think.đŸ„±đŸ„±đŸ„±
i think that we can only guess those questions...
All my answers i think is right in my opinion after learning all seven books seveal times during my holidays. And no offences to anyone.

But he saw Cedric die in the fourth year. So, in that very year he should have been able to see thestrals... you know, on the return trip to Hogwarts Express.

Thanks for the answers and the way you gave reasons... it's really cool! I second your theory.

1. It never said no witch or wizard has not gone bad in any other house, just that most of the bad ones came from Slytherin. There were a few bad ones from every house.
2. Lily was not meant to be killed. Voldemort was honestly going to spare her for Snape if she had given him Harry, so James's sacrifice did not work for her since she was not meant to be killed by Voldemort. So we can say both James and Lily's sacrifice saved Harry, since Harry was meant to die unlike Lily.
3. Harry did not remember Lily's death as a baby, so he could not see Thestrals if he could not remember seeing death. He prob did see the Thestrals unconsciously in the end of the 4th book, but so much was on his mind that no notice was made of them. The thestrals in the 5th book were foreshadowing to Sirius's death, so I think they had to be mentioned in the 5th book only.
4. Dumbledore could basically undo anything, since he was a powerful wizard😆, so it prob does not pertain to him, but like the person above said, the body bind could prob work too.

If the body-bind curse could penetrate the cloak, then I think the Hallow is over-rated! 😆
Anyways, it is clearly mentioned at the end of fourth book:
"He, Ron and Hermione were waiting in the crowded Entrance Hall with the rest of the fourth-years for the carriages that would take them back to Hogsmeade station............... Hermione turned away, smiling at the horseless carriages which were now trundling up the drive; as Krum, looking surprised, but gratified, signed a fragment of parchment for Ron."
See? The "horseless" carriages are mentioned, it is also clearly mentioned that Harry was keeping a watch for the carriages... how could he not notice the Thestrals? And if he did see the thestrals, then the Harry we know, would never have been able to rest until he asked the why of them, when for four full years, he had been under the impression that the carriages were "horseless"!
May be the visibility of the Thestrals came with time... like in a month or so, after seeing someone (in Ron's words) "snuff it". 😆

I reckon, in the very first book, Hagrid told Harry...
"Better Hufflepuff than Slytherin. There's not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin. You-Know-Who was one."

Haw! đŸ˜ČđŸ˜ČđŸ˜Č
Then James never got credit for it! Harry was always told that his "mother's" charm protected him until the age of 17.

1. In Harry Potter, it has been maintained that no evil witch/wizard has emerged from any House other than Slytherin. That's just Hagrid's ignorance actuall.y How is that possible when we all know that Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail) was a Gryffindor! Wormtail was never a GOOD GUY, he was just someone who wanted to be with whoever was the more powerful person. In his times in Hogwarts that was James and Sirius and after in his adult years it was Voldemort. He wanted to join Voldemort because he believed that Voldemort was like the "new cool kid".

There was no protection put on Lily from James' death. The ancient protection only works if you are given the choice to avoid your death but you choose death over the other thing. Voldemort gave Lily a chance but she chose to DIE for Harry. James too had died in order to save Lily and Harry, telling the former to take Harry and go! Was James' sacrifice not enough to evoke the magic? James was NOT given a choice to die or not die from Voldemort. Voldemort just killed him.

Baby Harry didn't see Lily die because his crib was blocking his view. At the end of GoF, the death of Cedric has FULLY sunken yet that's why he could only see it in order of the phoenix.

Spells only protect the CLOAK not the person under it. Like in deathly hallows, death eaters tried to accio the cloak but it didn't work.

I would be back with more questions after these questions get answered 😆

As Navi mentioned in the post prior to mine, is that to be able to see the thestrals, one had to really experience death, but when Harry was leaving at the end of the 4th book, it was all a whirlwind, and he had no time as yet to really experience Cedric's death. He only really came to terms with it during the summer (with the nightmares etc) so he was only able to see the thestrals upon his return, and not before he left.
Hope that helped in any way.

I think that it was Lily's protection because she sacrificed herself out of love to save him. I think the reason that James' death didn't work for Lily, was that his action was not really a sacrifice. It was more defensive fighting. I mean he was really wanted to protect them, but he didn't sacrifice himself for them (mainly because I think he didn't really get a chance to do so). Lily's sacrifice and later Harry's was meant as a selfless act of love and I think that is what offered the protection. (Hope that makes sense)
Now I may be totally wrong but that's just my interpretation!
