Hello chatbuster, Who told you accent is hard to lose/acquire. The entire Call Centre market is in the pocket of Indians who don't know the geographical position of New England and the Real England...
I have a nephew who lives down south switching to neutral accent and then to Texan heavy accent and then to Indian English. All within 4 months time...
chatbuster, Your myth has been busted

sorry to dispel ur illusions- most of us immediately hang up the phone when we hear that "switched-on" Texan accent. as usual, some of us have the wonderful ability to believe that others r fools. btw, did u know that some of those very same call centres r not working that much anymore on anglicising the accent (coz it doesnt work well), but basically on just getting the english right.

aur yeh chip shots marna bandh karo yaar. u shld get the overall pic. do u see too many desis in the western music/ broadcasting/ media space?

Agreed chatbuster, since you are located in the US, I buy & respect your views. But things are not so bad and gloomy. You can definitely be a bit more optimistic.

Firstly - I really do not mean to offend anyone but I do want to pitch in my two cents - if not my own skewed opinion.

I do love Hema - some of his songs - no one else could have sung like that. Amazing singer and he will go far - by God's grace ... very far!

BUT - I am one of those who sometimes does get appalled by word mis-pronunciations.I cannot explain it ...but imagine being lost in someone's song and being uplifted to a higher plane - totally lost in oblivion - as only music can make you transcend....suddenly a jarring note <<^<<^^ ...A word mis-pronounced. Makes you wince. Your reverie is broken- you fall back to earth - in one thud !!!

It is like eating the best dish that was ever prepared - the most delicious mouth-watering dish you can think of ...you are savoring it and suddenly - the errant stone?? Makes you gnash you teeth...

You notice even if you wish you didn't - you wish it hadn't happened!

When I listen to Lata, Asha , KK and Rafi's songs ...or many other singers' songs - some Hindi/Urdu words just spring up ... there is nothing more soul-stirring for me than catching a mellifluous urdu word spoken with just the right diction. Dil choo jata hai !!!

Am sorry - am possessive that way. I would much rather not have certain hindi/urdu words messed around with.

i'M sure you're from Bollywood. See if you can't take a slight misprouncation then think of our south indian greatness to accept all thoses singers who misprounce all the time. And also if misprounciation of a word makes you feel irrated then you're not listening to the soul of the music, you're listening to the words. I don't mean to offend you or anythin but this is my opinion. Also about some earlier comments, Hemu will definetly improve his Hindi accent. He doesn't misprounce anything, it's just his accent and he will come across this obstcle too.😊
