Alright this post is not to wage a war between AR n SR...am just trying to play the devil's advocate here...
Shanky - Hmm...a lot has been said bout him n his overbearing ways n i agree to an extent...but then lemme play the devil's advocate for him 1st...1st things 1st...he s a father! n no matter how much we argue bout this n how much we dont like to admit it...a father will only have the best interests of his child at heart..i remember once paddy had said this to ridhhima wen she found out y armaan left...she said jitna pyaar tumhe iss insaan ne kiya hai (shanky) utna pyaar tumhe koi nahi kar sakta! n i sorta agree with her...yes he said he will support watever decision ridhhima takes...but remember wen he came back to sanjeevani...he saw his daughter literally begging him to save her marriage...then he found out tht she has signed the papers..at tht time he dint say anythin coz he had already spoken to sid n sid had agreed to talk to ridhhima bout this..plus wen she says "bahut mushkil tha papa par maine sign kar diya" he understands how difficult it was for her n this marriage does mean a lot to her...n he knws ridhhima very well..he knows she is stubborn n impulsive n takes decisions in her anger..n this is DIVORCE for god's sake ppl...wen sid comes to talk to her he has some hope tht they will sort out the differences but wat he sees is 2 adults behaving like kids n taking marriage n divorce so lightly so he had to intervene n knock some sense into their heads even if it meant tht he had to literally order it...remember he s a doctor! N thts wat the doctor ordered!
Then coming to his scene with armaan - potentially explosive but nonetheless - 1st lets clear this...armaan wanted to leave sanjeevani...y? coz he thot ridhhima wud not b able to move on in her married life if he stayed...n also he wont b able to see ridhhima wit someone else..right? then shanky wanted to stop him coz he wanted rids to become strong..BUT did armaan change his decision? NO! The Goodbye scene was after his discussion wit shanky remember?? So wat made him stop? The Divorce Papers! and the way Ridhhima reacted to them..thts wen he said to himself i cant let this divorce happen n went to talk to sid..n the famous fight sequence happened..remember ppl? So he stopped on his own accord then y blame shanky tht he stopped armaan?
Now if shanky thinks armaan might be the reason for SR's tension...plsss think objectively n from shanky's perspective..is he wrong in thinking tht? n if u cant answer then think...wat wud ve happened if armaan had not returned? rids wud ve moved on wit sid..happily...wat happened wen armaan returned..she stopped where she was! remember shanky has seen wat AR meant to each other n he s not wrong in assuming armaan might be the cause of the tension...am not saying armaan did it intentionally...its no way armaan's fault...but shanky doesnt know everything remember..he s looking at this as an outsider...he sees husband n wife slowly accepting each other..suddenly wife's past lover returns...there is tension in husband - wife's relationship..wat wud a normal person assume? its coz of the return of the ex lover! kahin na kahin because of armaan, sid started thinking ridhhima is still in love wit him...ridhhima also dint say anything n she was only crying her heart out...so shanky s thinkin like this..
The one thing where shanky was DEFINITELY WRONG was to think tht armaan s doing this intentionally..he knows armaan well enough so i dont understand y he thinks like this...and i was very happy wen armaan stood upto him n said let ridhhima decide wat she wants..i personally wud ve hated it if armaan had agreed..so tht was a good thing..brownie points to armaan for tht!
So just to play the devil's advocate for shanky i think: given the fact tht he doesnt know everything - as ridhhima herself said aap kuch nahi jaante...he might not be wrong in ASSUMING armaan is the cause of the tension n he s definitely not wrong in asking SR to give their marriage another chance!
PS: If u wanna bash me am not interested..if u wanna have a healthy discussion am all for it...I will be playing the Devil's advocate for Sid and Armaan also in my subsequent posts đ
