fantastic article on the women in indian soaps.
it is interesting that women are the heros. in american soaps they focus more on the man who usually win. the women do, but more focus is on the man.
some of the women characters come of strong like in agle and antara.
however at the same time these women are made to be typical and conservative in many ways. they are radical but not over the top. the writers can't make them extremely radical because it would turn of viewers.
it is about time woman were shown more in the front than men on tv.
another common theme with the women is always trying to save the family and listening to everything most of the time.
antara was a soap that started out with autism and then it faded away from that social issue.
