My Name is Khan completes a hat-trick of flops for Shah Rukh Khan
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Playing to near empty houses now, My Name is Khan managed to collect just over 8 crores in India in its 2nd weekend, down by around 70% in its weekend 1, despite not having any release issues as was the case in opening weekend. Occupancies typically ranged from 30% to 5% for the film which had an open run created to it by the lack of big releases two weeks prior and two weeks afterwards.

The film had an increase of 5 theaters in its 2nd weeekend in North America, but lost by 64% in collections there also.

Optimistic trade analysts have pegged losses of MNIK at 20 crores minimum.

The film is the 2nd straight flop for Karan Johar after his disastrous Qurbaan featuring Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor and for Shah Rukh Khan it goes one further. It completes a hat trick of flops, starting with home production flop Billu in same time last year in February 2009, followed by Dulha Mil Gaya in January 2010, followed by My Name is Khan in February 2010.

i hate misleading media!! that's exactly y aamir got pissed off at them at a point of time!

That is good news thanks for feedback it deserved to do well😊..actually come to think of it i kind of remeber seeing that maybe on karans twitter that it did well overseas...
Zee that is a good idea never thought of that will check it out.

Nina, MNIK is the highest grosser, so it's surely far away from flop, it's blockbuster in overseas and super hit in India, so ignore all these articles which claim that MNIK is flop, check the BO results..........

Why do you care so much as to whether the movie was a hit or not? At the end of the day you see if you like the movie or not.

I like a movie when I can connect to it & get a favourable emotional response & makes no difference it it was a hit or not.

I though MNIk was okay & found it over-melodramatic.

Sorry I didnt mean it that way, I was just saying a movies collection dont matter to me bcoz at the end of the day I only remember a movie by how good it was not how much money it made.

Hit, but I didn't like it all! I don't why but some of the movies that do well (like Partner, Welcome, Singh is King, Ajab Prem, New York) I really hate or don't at all apreciate and films that have flopped (like Awarapan, Luck By Chance, Tum Mile) I like more!

i guess it all comes down to taste! some people like a certain genre of movies, I tend to prefer certain types of scripts and and perfromances over others! But I can understand why the movie was liked by many!
