Tamanna knocked at the door a little too strongly, and to her utter surprise, the door flew open. She didn't dare step in.

Tamanna: (calling softly) Ridz... Ammy...

No one answered. Tamanna called out once again. Still there was no answer. Irritated, she barged inside the room and switched on the lights.

Armaan and Ridhimaa, both seemed fast asleep in each others' arms. Tamanna sent up a silent prayer to the heavens seeing the two and approached Ridhimaa.

Tamanna: Ridz... Ridz...

She shook Ridhimaa slightly.

Tamanna: Ridz...

Ridhimaa opened her eyes drowsily and felt Armaan's arms holding her posessively. She smiled, hugged him tighter and again closed her eyes.

Tamanna: (loudly) Ridz utho...

Ridhimaa's eyes jerked open instantly. The sight of Tamanna standing over her head made Ridhimaa go red with embarrassment.

Ridhimaa: (letting go of Armaan immediately) Wo... main... I'm really...

She tried to push Armaan's hands away from her too when Tamanna stopped her.

Tamanna: Relax Ridz...
Ridhimaa: Main... wo... hum...
Tamanna: (cutting Ridhimaa short) Maine door knock kiya to khul gaya...

Ridhimaa did not reply but made a quick note in her mind to scold Armaan for this.

Tamanna: (guiltily) I didn't want to disturb you both...
Ridhimaa: (earnestly) Tamanna please... aise kyun bol rahi ho? Tumhe poora haq hai ki... actually, galti meri hai... mujhe jaldi uthna chahiye tha...
Tamanna: Abhi sirf paanch hi to baj rahe hain Ridz... aur kal tum dono kitna thak gaye hoge... you both need rest... but... mujhe aur Matt ko waapas jaana hai aaj... isliye main tum dono ko...
Ridhimaa: (exclaiming) Tum log aaj hi waapas ja rahe ho?
Tamanna: Haan...
Ridhimaa: Lekin... tum log to rukne waale the na kuch din? Fir achanaq se...
Tamanna: Maine us case ke baare me bataaya tha na... jis ki wajah se hum log Rahul ki shaadi me late aaye the... dad bata rahe the ki kuch complications aa gayi hain... hum dono ko jaana hoga...

Ridhimaa looked disappointed.

Tamanna: (giving instructions) Tum uth jao... aur Ammy ko bhi utha dena... fir fresh ho ke neeche aa jaana... saari rasmein jaldi-jaldi karni hongi... 9 o'clock ki flight hai.

Ridhimaa kept nodding at each instruction obediently.

Tamanna: Kya hua Ridz?
Ridhimaa: (her eyes full of tears) Tum log itni jaldi ja rahe ho... main yahaan sab kaise... akele...
Tamanna: (wiping Ridhimaa's tears) Ridz! Ammy ko pata chalega ki tum meri wajah se ro rahi ho to maarega mujhe...

She looked at Ridhimaa's face, expecting a smile, but Ridhimaa was still sobbing.

Tamanna: Hum log jaldi waapas aa jayenge Ridz... aur tab tak Ammy hoga na tumhare pass. Main usey samjha dungi... wo tumhara bahut achhe se khayaal rakhega...
Ridhimaa: Wo mujhe pata hai, lekin...
Tamanna: (naughtily) Oh... tumhe to sab kuch pata hai...

Ridhimaa blushed.

Tamanna: (cupping Ridhimaa's face in her hands) Ridz... mujhse better tum ye baat jaanti ho ki Ammy ke hote hue, tumhe kabhi koi takleef nahi ho sakti... wo tumhe har haal me khush rakhega... humesha. Hai na?

Ridhimaa glanced at the sleeping Armaan for a second and nodded.

Tamanna: (smiling) Fir tum kyun darr rahi ho?
Ridhimaa: (confessing her fears) Agar... agar main Armaan ko khush nahi rakh paayi to? Mujhse koi galti ho gayi... agar meri wajah se Armaan... main... main kya karungi... kaise usey...
Tamanna: (lovingly) Tumhe kuch karne ki zaroorat nahi padegi Ridz. Tumhara saath, tumhara pyar hi Ammy ke liye kaafi hai. Wo tumse aur kuch nahi chaahta... sirf aur sirf tumhe khush dekhna chaahta hai. Tum khush rahogi, to Ammy bhi khush rahega. Aur main itna to jaanti hoon ki tum Ammy ki khushi ke liye kuch bhi kar sakti ho... fir bhi tumhe kyun lagta hai ki Ammy tumhare saath khush nahi rahega?

Ridhimaa remained silent. She was contemplating on what Tamanna said. Not a word of it was untrue.

Tamanna: Aur agar kabhi Ammy tumse gussa ho jaaye aur daantne lage... to...

Ridhimaa looked at her enquiringly.

Tamanna: (with a big smile on her face) To tum bhi usey daant dena. Isme to tum dono expert ho hi...

Ridhimaa returned the smile. Fully reassured, she looked over at Armaan again, wanting him to wake up and look back at her.

Tamanna: (faking a cough) Ahem-ahem... main abhi yahin hoon Ridz...

When Ridhimaa started to blush again, Tamanna kissed her forehead.

Tamanna: Kal Ammy ne zyada pareshaan to nahi kiya? Achhe se so liye na tum dono?

Ridhimaa nodded while blushing heavily.

Tamanna: Haye! Tumhe abhi tak jhooth bolna nahi aaya... kya hoga tumhara?
Armaan: (piping up) Wahi hoga jo manzoor-e-patidev hoga...

Tamanna smiled, realising that Armaan had heard the conversation, while Ridhimaa started to free herself from Armaan's grip.

Armaan: (holding Ridhimaa firmly) Good morning Dr.Mrs.Ridhimaa Armaan Mallik...
Ridhimaa: (turning a deeper shade of red) Armaan... chhodo...
Armaan: Tumhare maayke me tumhe sikhaaya nahi gaya? Patidev ke good morning ka jawaab... good morning kiss se dete hain...
Ridhimaa: (conscious of Tamanna's presence) Armaan!
Armaan: Waise, agar maayke me nahi sikhaaya... to sasuraal waale sikha denge... actually sasuraal waale kya... iske liye to ye patidev hi kaafi hain...
Ridhimaa: (hitting Armaan's arm) Armaan! Chhodo!
Tamanna: (warningly) Ammy... Ridz ko tang mat karo...
Armaan: (to Tamanna, jokingly) Subah-subah kyun disturb karne aa gayi?
Ridhimaa: (shocked) Armaan!
Armaan: (unwavering, still in the mood of a joke) Tammy... abhi jao... abhi humara romance time hai...
Ridhimaa: Armaan! Tamanna ja rahi hai...
Armaan: Good... bolo jaldi jaaye...
Ridhimaa: (tears again springing into her eyes) I mean... wo aaj waapas Canada ja rahi hai...

Armaan was so shocked that he left Ridhimaa and sat up straight. Ridhimaa too straightened up.

Armaan: (to Tamanna) Tum ja rahi ho aaj?
Tamanna: Ab tum bhi mat rone lag jaana... itni mushkil se Ridz chup hui hai...

Armaan looked at Ridhimaa, who was blinking back her tears.

Armaan: Tum royi thi, Ridhimaa?

Ridhimaa did not answer. Armaan gave her a one-sided hug.

Armaan: Tum royi kyun? Tammy jaldi waapas aa jayegi...

Armaan looked at Tamanna, desperately wanting her to confirm.

Armaan: Aaogi na?

Tamanna smiled and nodded. Ridhimaa pulled her too in the hug.

Tamanna: (separating after a while) Achha chalo... ab jaldi-jaldi fresh ho jao... abhi saari rasmein baaki hain. Main bhi jaati hoon... tum dono fresh hoke aa jaana. Aur haan... Ammy, Ridz... aaj ka Reception cancel karne ke baare me sochna bhi mat.
Armaan, Ridhimaa: (together) Tumhe kaise pata?
Tamanna: (pinching one cheek each of Armaan and Ridhimaa) Bas pata hai... but don't you both dare, ok?
Ridhimaa: Lekin tum yahaan nahi hogi to...
Tamanna: To tum dono ko disturb karne waala bhi koi nahi hoga...
Armaan: (lovingly) Tammy...
Tamanna: Just joking! Waise main call kar ke reception ki saari details poochhungi... isliye... sochna bhi mat!

Armaan smiled and so did Ridhimaa. Tamanna moved towards the door, where she stopped and turned around.

Tamanna: And yeah... aaj se door lock karke sona...

Saying so, she went away. Armaan bit his lip and looked at Ridhimaa sheepishly. Ridhimaa smiled at his cuteness.

Armaan: (surprised) Tum daantogi nahi?
Ridhimaa: Nahi... aap to mere patidev hain na... patidev ko kaise daant sakti hoon?
Armaan: (pulling Ridhimaa closer) Daant nahi sakti to pyar hi kar lo...
Ridhimaa: (bowing her face) Armaan!
Armaan: Ab nakhre mat karo... jab main so raha tha, tab to tum kitna chaah rahi thi ki main tumhe dekhun...
Ridhima: (nervously, without meeting Armaan's intense gaze) Tum... tumhe kaise...
Armaan: Waise hi... jaise tumhe pata hai ki ab main kya karne ja raha hoon... jiski wajah se tum mujhe dekh nahi rahi ho...

Ridhimaa's cheeks grew warmer. Armaan kissed her forehead, then brushed his nose againts hers and was proceeding towards the lips when Ridhimaa pulled away.

Ridhimaa: Jaldi se fresh ho jao... rasmon ke baad pagphere ke liye bhi jaana hai... aur mujhe room bhi theek karna hai... warna tum kal tak isey aise hi chhod doge...
Armaan: Kal tak? Tum aaj wahin rukogi kya?
Ridhimaa: Of course, Armaan...
Armaan: (making a face) But kyun? Main akela yahaan pe kya karunga?
Ridhimaa: Wahi... jo aaj se pehle karte the...

Armaan turned his face away in a huff.

Ridhimaa: (trying to cajole him) Armaan...
Armaan: Nahi... mujhe kuch nahi sunna. Tum nahi rukogi wahaan pe... bas!

Ridhimaa smiled and took Armaan's hand in hers.

Ridhimaa: Itna miss karoge mujhe?
Armaan: Nahi...
Ridhimaa: (puzzled) Nahi?
Armaan: Issey bahut bahut bahut bahut zyada...

Ridhimaa, beaming, hugged Armaan, who hugged her back.

Armaan: (asking like a child) To tum aaj wahaan nahi rukogi na?
Ridhimaa: (choosing her words carefully) Armaan... maine humare liye sabko chhod diya... wo ghar... wo log... wo saare pal, jo maine us ghar me bitaaye the... sirf tumhare saath zindagi shuru karne ke liye. Tum mujhe humari zindagi se ek din nahi de sakte... un yaadon ko fir se dill me basaane ke liye? Sirf ek din... us ghar me rehne ke liye... jahaan kal tak maine na jaane kitni zindagiyan dekhi hain. Tum mujhe ek din nahi doge Armaan?

Armaan, overwhelmed by Ridhimaa's words, understood her feelings. He kissed her tenderly but passionately on both her cheeks and then held her face in his hands, very close to his own.

Armaan: Wo ghar abhi bhi tumhara ghar hai Ridhimaa... tum jab chahe wahaan ja sakti ho... jitne din chaahe wahaan reh sakti ho... main kabhi tumhe nahi rokunga.

Ridhimaa smiled once again. She knew it all along that her Armaan would definitely understand her.

Armaan: Sirf tum hi kyun... main bhi rahunga tumhare saath wahaan...
Ridhimaa: (shocked, separating herself) Tum?
Armaan: Haan... after all, wo mere bhi Mamma-Daddy ka ghar hai...
Ridhimaa: Haan, lekin...
Armaan: Lekin?
Ridhimaa: (trying to infuse sense in Armaan) Armaan... ye achha thode hi lagega ki tum wahaan ja ke rehne lago...
Armaan: Kyun? Achha kyun nahi lagega?
Ridhimaa: Kyunki ab tum us ghar ke damaad ho... bete nahi...

The effect of Ridhimaa's words was easily visible on Armaan's face. Dejected, Armaan got off from the bed. Ridhimaa understood that what she said might have hurt Armaan, somehow.

Ridhimaa: Armaan...
Armaan: (formally) Tum apne liye dress select kar lo... main tab tak fresh ho ke aata hoon...

And he went inside the washroom. Ridhimaa frowned and went towards the cupboard (where Armaan had arranged her clothes) with a firm resolution in her mind. Seeing Armaan's formal behaviour, she knew that her task ahead wasn't going to be that easy. But she would accomplish it any way... by hook or by crook. After all, everything's fair in love!
