Not only the public channels but also the news channels which covers news 24 hours a day did not find time to focus enough on the incident. So Assam Cable TV Operators' Confederation (ACTOC) and the Greater Guwahati Cable TV Operators Association (GGCTOA) have decided to block out three national channels Zee News, Aak Tak and Star News. The allegation is crucial happenings and significant issues of the north east region were rarely highlighted by the national channels, but even minor happenings in other states were telecast throughout the day.

North East people were also very offended at the recent episodes of Zee TV's Saregamapa, a SMS voting based singing competition where reputed mentors were seen openly requesting the producers to reject the votes that were SMSed from the North East for Assam participant Debojit Saha.
