Hey guys,
Before I go in detail abt my ratings for all the performances today, I just wanted to share the criteria that I use for the ratings. First and foremost thing I look at is the sharpness and clarity in moves (does the performance flow smoothly or does it look sloppy or underrehearsed) Second thing I consider is the overall feelings I get from the performance (if the performance does what it was suppose to do, did it create that emotion and feeling in me that it was suppose to create, and definitely a performer's connectivity with the audience plays a big role in this, did I connect with the person or not is the kind of thing I look at) and the third thing I look at is the originality/concept/idea (although this is not weighted heavily, if a person did very well in the first two things, they will probably get a good rating from me) and yea, this is pretty much all I look at while rating each performance.
and now, here's what I thought of all the performances today:
Jack - 10 - INTENSE is the word my friend! choreography was good, his moves were smooth, sharp, clean, and expressions were really good. I rlly liked the concept and Jack did full justice to it! π and probably the main reason I am giving Jack a perfect today is because he was able to hold my full attention from the start until the end despite not being one of my favourites. As u guys could tell from my earlier posts, I was never a big fan of Jack and had a lot of issues with his performances, but he has done quite well from the past two weeks. It was kinda sad to see him go but I feel he wasn't a winning material so he had to leave either this week or next, he wasn't gonna stay long! plus, considering he wasn't consistent from the beginning, his elimination was sort of expected!
Amar - 9 - I agree with the all the comments given by the masters, I have a soft spot for Amar since he is my most favourite contestant on DID2 π but I have to be fair while giving the ratings, well I try π he has been rlly consistent with giving good performances so whenever he comes on stage, I know that Terence must've planned something good for this week as well, and I usually don't get disappointed. Same thing today, I connected with him for the whole song, his expressions were good and steps were neat and clean. The feel he created was just right for the performance and what I liked abt it! u can just imagine the level of his connectivity with the audience from the fact that while watching his performance, for a while, I felt like he was performing for me π³ unrealistic, I know *sigh* but hey, a girl can dream π I'm still taking 1 point off bcz of comparative marking and Jack deserves that extra mark for being the best today!
Shakti - 8.5 - ah, being the working woman myself, I totally related to her!! well, I'm not married yet but I manage a part-time job with full-time university, and it can get rlly hard to manage it sometimes, so Shakti got me there. I feel the performance was more like an act rather than dance π I didn't see much of core dancing in there but I'm still giving her high rating coz I just loved the concept and idea! Good job Terence! ππΌ and let me just take this opportunity to say that Remo, u rock! ππΌ I kinda like Remo's judging style, he is so calm all the time, not hyper like Geeta "Ma" but hey that's what adds variety and masala to the show π
Dharmesh - 8 - ok, I rlly liked his performance. I thought it was very well done! and if he improves on things that Terence told him, he can be rlly good at this style as well. However, I'm still giving him 8 bcz his prop bothered me and distracted me the whole time All I could think of was Amar's earlier performance with the german wheel and how good he did it. I never have enough time for TV so I didn't watch DPL or any season of Jhalak Dikhlaja (well, maybe some episodes of the season in which Jay B was a participant) or any other Indian dance show or whatsoever, so I rlly couldn't understand the feelings of the fellow IF members when they were discussing how Geeta copies choreography done from these shows, BUT today I realized what it feels like! the whole wheel idea was Amar's and since he was the first one to do it and that too not that while ago, I don't think I can rate this performance of Dharmesh any higher, and the reason is Geeta ofcourse Is there any shortage of other props? and the whole argument abt the dance style being contemporary and freestyle, I personally thought it was contemporary too =/ so I don't know what Geeta was trying to say there, anyways not getting into that argument, I just explained what I felt abt the performance and have based my rating on all these facts!
Amrita - 7.5 - I love this girl! she is one of my favourites and never disappoints me when she comes on stage. Even today, her performance was rlly good and emotional π I connected with her and was able to feel the emotions she was trying to communicate, so for me, it's a thumbs up Amrita ππΌ but still a 7.5 for her, because I think other performances mentioned above deserve more credit.
Saajan - 7.5 - Again, I liked his performance today, and as Terence mentioned, after several weeks of disappointing performances, he was in his element today. I mainly enjoyed the performance bcz I could see how much he was enjoying it, and the song Remo used was so funny π I've actually never heard it before so the lyrics were quite funny and overall, I liked it!
Punit - 7 - ok, today I enjoyed his performance as well. it was full of energy and fast beats and Punit was able to connect with me today! yes, FINALLY! I have no reason as to why today π lol, maybe he's performing with Shakti tomorrow so I paid more attention to him today π but yea, the overall performance was good but still a 7 for Punit bcz I felt the difficulty level was not so high.
Binny - 6 - She was the weakest today and did not impress me at all! I don't know anything abt the dance for she did but I felt she needed to put in more energy, she looked doen and her performance lacked energy and confidence. The performance also looked under rehearsed and maybe she is ill so that's the reason but oh well, as Remo mentioned, no excuses! it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't think she would want to blow it. so Binny, work hard, u have been giving average solos lately for the past couple of weeks. As of now, I have to say I didn't like her performance at all ππΌ
Overall, a rlly fun episode, I enjoyed watching it, and I loved the little introductions Jay-Soumya gave before each performance. It was good π
wow, I just realized how long my post ended up being π² sorry abt that folks, I guess I get a little too excited when talking abt DID π
