Kites music to hit air with 1-min roadblock
MUMBAI: The music launch of Rakesh Roshan's Kites, starring son Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, will be launched in the form of a
'roadblock' across 40 TV channels, on March 29th at 9.30 pm. A bulk of these are news channels, the rest being English movie and entertainment channels as well as music.
The one minute capsule will show Hrithik singing — Kites In the Sky, in English, along with some behind the scenes footage of the film, with Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu. "I thought this was an innovative way to open the film's music and it is Hrithik's first attempt at singing as well," said producer Roshan.
My Name Is Khan, was the first film to use a roadblock across all Star Networks to showcase a three minute trailer of the film. For Big Pictures, who is reported to have paid a huge sum (over Rs 100 crore) to acquire this Rs 60-crore-budgeted film, this roadblock, looked like an idea which would allow them to launch the music across genres, channels and get more participation across demographics. "It gives us huge leverage to get our music across," says CEO, Big Pictures, Sanjeev Lamba who does not rule out another opportunity to use the TV platform in the interim six weeks to the release of the film.
Kites, is a story by Rakesh Roshan, and is set in the harsh terrain of the Mexican desert, where a mortally wounded man is left for dead in the heat of the desert sun. This is J (Hrithik Roshan). Once a street smart, carefree young guy, now, a wanted man. As death looms, the only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha (Barbara Mori). A woman betrothed to another man, but surely destined for J. "The idea for Kites came to me when I was gazing at the sky and saw two kites flying. It looked very romantic and very intriguing — the way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart.
