Basu to direct Ranbir In biopic on Kishore Kumar

In biopic on Kishore Kumar to be produced by UTV Motion Pictures

It's official. Anurag Basu will direct a biopic on Kishore Kumar starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film is to be produced by UTV Motion Pictures, and not Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision as reported earlier. Apparently, Kishore's wife Leena Chandavarkar had sold the rights to making the film to UTV some time back. Anurag had earlier directed Metro for UTV and the two sides share a good bond. The deal will be finalised next week.

Shoojit Sircar was supposed to direct the film earlier, but the deal fell through for unknown reasons. Sudhir Mishra and Nagesh Kukunoor too had independently planned to make biopics on the late singer.
