Hostess Rakshanda Khan is all dressed up for the new game-show, 'Jodee Kamaal Ki' on Star Plus that replaces the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.
Stage 2 of Mehboob Studio, where the shoot is in progress, resembles the Jodhpur
Palace with ostentatious curtains and upholstery.
Three couples - Bappi Lahiri and wife Chitrani, Kunal Ganjawala (has sung the show's title-track) and wife Gayatri, and music director Lalit and wife Meena are present. Lahiri says, "I was apprehensive about doing a show like this. It needs a sharp IQ. But I enjoyed it."
Producer Dheeraj Kumar points out that the show has worked on an indigenous yet universal concept. "Politicians, sportsmen, film and television personalities will take part. The show along with the husband-wife equation will also tap the mother-daughter and father-daughter dynamics."
Deepak Gatani (of 'Nach Baliye' fame) has been roped in to direct the show and has already shot an episode with actors Parmeet Sethi-Archana Puran Singh, Varun Badola-Rajeshwari and Manish Goyal-Poonam Narula.
Rakshanda is excited about the show, which besides having eleven cameras, is also being edited online. "We shot on the sets with dummy celebrities for seven days just to get the feel of the show," she says.
Dheeraj confesses, "Rakshanda is steering the game show with her sense of humour." Celebrities including Laloo Prasad Yadav, Vijay Mallya and Anil Ambani, are expected to appear on the show.
Dheeraj adds, "The show drives home the message that life isn't only about achievements. It is also about compassion and how aware you are about the nuances of close relationships. If after watching the show you start loving your spouse, daughter and parents more, we would have achieved our objective."
The programme goes on air on March 4 and will be aired every Saturday
