Deciding which post-secondary education destination to go to can be quite stressful. Which one should you go to - college or university? 🤔 Both destinations are not bad - one is not greater than the other because it matter on what kind of individual you are. 😃

Here are some pointers of each destination! 😃

College

  • Colleges tend to have smaller classes, creating a more intimate learning environment for students. This leads to greater student-teacher interaction.
  • The transition from high school to college is not as drastic as the change to university
  • Offer diplomas but some colleges are also starting to offer degrees.
  • More hands on experience

University

  • Opportunity of living away on residence
  • More extra-curricular activities for students
  • Universities offer degrees
  • More theoretical however universities may offer co-op or internship depending on your program
  • Larger classes - less professor&student interaction

University & College
  • Some programs are joint - meaning you get a diploma and a degree by attending university and college (half-half of total time required)

Those were some tips! Feel free to share some of your own😃

'til next time,

If you're seeking education in United States, you'd get an associate degree (diploma) in a college which doesn't qualify you for a good positional job in this economy. And to seek a full degree, one needs to attend a University atleast for later half (2 years) of their studying.

Hmm.... I would go for a University.

I graduated from a very small high school and so I had this huge schools phobia but now I'm going a huge university and I really like it.

The reason is that I meet so many people from so many different backgrounds going into so many different fields. There are also a lot more opportunities.

I get to TA for Psych and Bio... There are lot of activities going on and stuff happening at the campus all the time.

Awesome post!

Umm since I am an university student I have to pick university, because it allows you to become independant but also you learn to work on your own and the degree you get at the end is worth more than what you get in college.

However depends on what profession you want to pursue because it can determine whether you go to college or university!

This post just caught my eye and if i may say this is a very interesting post indeed. University or College... That is the question? Thought I would quote Shakespeare. Hehe!

I am currently doing my Law(LLB) Degree at Cambrige University, England. I personally believe that University is the better option. I haven't always believed that I would have been able to attend University due to grades... But now I attend the second best University in the World after Harvard University,USA. (According to the 2009 records) Here is a Hyperlink so that you can see your University Ranking.

Back to the question in hand. Both options are both equally as good as each other but it really depends on which county you study in.

In the UK
Full-time education is compulsory for all children aged between 5 and 16 (inclusive) after which the recieve GCSE levels. Students may then continue their secondary studies for a further two years (sixth form), leading most typically to an A level qualification, although other qualifications and courses exist, including GNVQ and the BTEC. These are usually obtained in a College. It is possible to continue studies after obtaining BTEC's and GNVQ's.In the Uk typically those which have not obtained the required grades at GCSE levels tend to go to College. Whereas if you have obtained the required Alevels at Sixth Form it is easier to get into the university that you wish to study at.

Higher education typically begins with a 3-year Bachelor's Degree. Postgraduate degrees include Master's Degrees, either taught or by research, and Doctor of Philosophy, a research degree that usually takes at least 3 years.

I personally believe that it really depends on which Profession you would like to go into in the furture. If you would like to become a Doctor, Lawyer or an Accountant in the UK it is very important that you Go to University...

Anyway If anyone is at or is going to Cambridge University please feel free to PM...
