I'm American akanna. I did not vote for him. My family did not vote for him. New York did not vote for him. Infact, as this other poster mentions, about Indian peopne, I would like to say GWB was elected by the bible belt of the US and other Republican states. The general view is that these are white folks who will vote based upon whether the canidate goes to Church or not. These people also don't have any education and etc etc. I can go on and on.
But see, I have no right to say anything like that but that is the view of how GWB got elected. And wow, it's similar to how Indians vote huh?

And may I add, there is favoritism in American idol too. American teens also vote for their favs rather than based upon talent. It's human nature to do so.

Oh okay, in that case, I withdraw my comments.. 😊 I never bothered much about the American politics or Indian politics... That's one subject that I shut down myself when someone starts talking about it in a group I am in... LOL... Because it usually ends up in big fights... So I tend not to say anything as I would be hurting someone among my buddies...

But what Lachu is saying - I have heard similar stories from my folks, and I have seen among my folks too how they are blind when it comes to voting, and they dont care about the candidate but only look at the party he or she is representing... So in that aspect, Americans and Indians are similar I guess... Since I dont vote anywhere for elections, I dont make many comments on it...

Have to totally disagree with you 😕 The voting mindset is the same. I'm not criticizing Indians, just trying to correlate the voting pattern. I have not voted in India for the last ten years, but i have done previously. I never learnt about the candidate i was voting for. There was this one particular party my parents were fond of and voted for them and so did i, totally ignorant of the fact that the guy had a criminal history.

Also, voting in indian public elections is a very regional matter. Any candidate from your native, who speaks your language and is the same caste gets the vote. i can vouch my previous voting history for that 😲 I know how voting works in India. Once, to my horror, somebody else had voted in my name 😲

Coming to the correlation between the voting patterns, there is the mass following be it teenagers or adults. People in india idolize their favorites. They have the tendency of mass hysteria behind their favorite actors, sports stars and things like that. So, there's a frenzy and people vote accordingly for their favorites in multiple numbers with these kinda shows. Now that's my point. Not the talent rather its favoritism that rules the votes.

Confused Wow so you don't like the way Indians vote for their leaders either? You seem to have all the answers about how people should vote in dance india dance and also in general elections. For someone who doesn't even live in India you sure have a lot of advice for people who actually live in India. ConfusedO great thinker can you also tell all of us indians what we should eat, watch on tv, what kind of books should we read, how often should we breath? 😆

Akana - you should tottally get involved in politics or at least read about it. Its very interesting to read about our society. And we have to live in - we must take part! We must choose the best people for the jobs. And trust me, where theres power, there's corruption. People are corrupted. LOL I vote for Kunwar b/c I'm in love with him... and I think he's the best dancer ever. But I've also voted for Vandu & Jack. Last season, I LOVED JAI KUMAR NAIR but I voted for Siddesh & Alishab/c I felt they were such a good dancers - I thought Jai didn't need my vote :( BUT HE DID! And I did vote for him as well... makes me sad now thinking of Jai

Ankit, This personal comment was really uncalled for.
If she's talking about politics, there's no need to change the topic and belittle her.
