I was wondering what religious background Nikunj belonged to, since there is nothing regarding to her religion. We know Dimpy is Bengali, Mrinmai is Marthi, Harpreet is Punjabi and I think Nikunj is Rajasthani or North Indian. I researched her last name and Malik is a the largest clan of Jat (hindu) and Faridabad is in Haryana which is also the home land for Jat.

Though wiki is not all that reliable...but I think in this case its correct:

"The Mahabharata Tribe - Malika (????) They are mentioned in the Geography of Mahabharata (VI.10.65) The Mahabharata Tribe - Malika (????) may be identified with Jat Gotra - Malik (????) They are mentioned in the Markandeya Purana as people of the Central region of India. [1] The Gathwala are now designating themselves as Maliks, which is a title. [1] mahabharat ka vansis malik jaat hai.

Malik is the largest clan of jat (Hindu) in North India(Haryana,Uttar Pardesh,Madhya Pardesh,Punjab,Rajasthan,Delhi). This area is well known as GATHWALA-KHAP. There are more than 760 villages of the Malik clan in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

There are also several villages of the Gathwala Malik in Okara District of Pakistan. Almost all them orignate from Sonepat. 'Gathwala' means 'people of organisation'. They are known for their brotherhood."

Malik is also sikh. However, looking at the cultural dance she had to do, her outfit was more Rajasthani or North India type. I just was curious and thought many of you were also curious so thought that this might help clear some of the confusion of her being Muslim. I think she was in love with a Muslim person and could not marry him due to their different religion backgrounds. But she herself is a Hindu.

i agree with you...even i feel she is a Jaat or Haryanvi.
earlier i thought she was sikh as she has long hair...but someone on the forum (i think justaviewer) cleared that thought....justaviewer says he/she was in high school with nikunj
