[Sina Entertainment News] The day before, Hangeng, the only Chinese member of Asia's super popular group, Super Junior, filed for a termination of his "exclusive contract" with SM Entertainment. According to the latest news from Korea, Hangeng is not the only one who filed the lawsuit. Other Super Junior members have also filed a similar lawsuit, and they include: Lee Teuk, Yesung, Kangin, Eun Hyuk and Donghae. The only reason why news about Hangeng was exposed first, is because of his nationality.

According to the lawsuit, Hangeng has not had any rest in 2 years, causing him to suffer from fatigue, which also resulted in chronic gastritis, illnesses related to his kidney, lumbar disc herniation, as well as a visible decrease in body strength. However, SM Entertainment rejected Hangeng's requests for rest, and continued to schedule activities for him, which caused Hangeng to suffer a lot of pain.

According to the contents of the lawsuit, since the time of his debut, Hangeng didn't even have one day of rest per week. For 2 years, Hangeng has continuously done his overseas schedules as well, and had no choice but to continue with his schedules without any rest. In his contract with SM, there are clauses stating that he has to pay the company monetary damages should he be unable to fulfill the schedules arranged for him. Thus, even when he was in poor health, he had no choice but to follow through with his schedules.

Once the news broke out, many fans have expressed the wish for SM and the members to be able to make peace, and make changes to their contracts, as well as expressed hope that Super Junior will not face the threat of disbanding.

I am going to quote a member at lj because her rant actually needs to be framed and put up somewhere. People in the fandom were calling Jaechunsu "greedy bas***ds", so everything that this girl has written is heavy truth and people need to see it. She ranted with brillance.

"for me this isn't even being happy about Hankyung no longer being alone -- this is me being happy that Jaechunsu don't need to fight on their own anymore. before it was just them against the world and no one took them seriously and everyone was TEAM SME/HOMIN, CHANGMIN KNOWS BEST LOL but now they have company, and amongst said company is Hankyung, who has worked SO hard to get where he is today just for his family and wouldn't throw that all away for no good reason, and Leeteuk, who is a band leader and a face of SME, and Donghae, who is DONGHAE.

when three people jump ship, it could be suspicious and look bad for them, sure -- but when NINE people jump ship, that's a Big Deal. with nine of SME's biggest idols filing lawsuits, this isn't just some stupid little game of OOOOH LET'S GET MORE MONEY. this is a sign that there is DEFINITELY a problem within the company that NEEDS to be fixed in order for it to succeed in the future. there isn't room for pointing fingers anymore. there isn't room for dicking around and signing papers back and forth without coming to an agreement. if shit doesn't get resolved NOW, SME is going to lose all of its credibility.

at this point, I don't even care if DBSG and Super Junior cease to exist, because all of these guys have futures somewhere, they've made their mark on Korean Entertainment and will succeed no matter what, be it as singers or actors or MCs. I just want SME to realize that they've f**ked up royally, and for all of their idols to be better off because of this. all of them deserve that. if being a member of DBSG or Super Junior is hurting them physically/mentally/emotionally/spiritually/whatever, then maybe breaking up is worth it, just for their sanity. they've done enough for their fans, and now it's time for them to think of themselves."

Awesome rant !!!!!!!!
I described SM as dinosaurs on my FB and AZNV its true they need to move with the times and stop using OLD style corporate contracts on gen X in Korea, they won't remain silent any longer to the unfairness and unjust contracts and awful clauses.

So true, everyone is so against JaeChunSu and showing them in a negative light. SME needs to know this is 2010, not slavery era and they need to eff off! *stomps foot in anger*

SM needs to change. It is not one of the biggest entertainment company but handsdown the biggest one. They shouldn't treat the stars that way. The stars work hard. Super junior and dbsk have the ability to rule any chart. They are so big in the kpop industry that they have managed to create a smoother path for any future sm artist. (snsd, shinee and f(x) for example)

I felt so bad hearing about Hankyung, and felt glad when the news came out about the other members.
I want everything to workout. I want them to stay under sm. I love my sm family. SM needs to stop being so stubborn about this matter.

well.....form what i hear the other two members of TVXQ did not file lawsuits because one had a drama coming up and changmin had some commitments as well.....im praying this is true and that there are no major fights within the group...

that being said...im so very glad that other artists have also started speaking out and realizing that the contracts they have are nightmarish and shouldn't be framed in that manner....
