Translation of article.. Thanx to Sehar for translation.😃
These days we ve seen Geetika Tyagi's strong performance in sony's show Powder. In the show she's playing the character of a female cop in the"Narcotics Control Bureau".So here's the journalist turned actor telling her story in her own words:

Acting since childhood: Though i made my career in journalism but i was always attracted towards acting, even in my childhood days i was a active member of the theatre.I did my first play when i was in my third grade, n it was called "bharatendu harishchandra ka chaupat raja". I have been regularly doing plays with the Sahitya Kala Parishad &Urdu Academy.I am also related to many theatre groups in delhi.Despite my love for acting i chose to make a career in journalism. My dad is a journalist himself and the environment in the house influenced my decision.Iworked as a journalist for about 5 yrs and came to Mumbai regarding my career, and worked here as an anchor and reporter.

Advantages of journalism:Though i was a journalist butnot a film journalist, so i didn't get the advantages of the contract.I used to cover Education and Crime beat in delhi.I was not related to fashion or glaour world in any way.The only advantage was that the words like"lights camera and action" didn't sound unfamiliar to me.I got confidence.Iworked for aaj tak for about 2.5 yrs, hav also worked with star news.Therfore i had the experience of expressing myself in front of the camera. My hindi improved because of my work with the electronic media.

Powder is a perfect venture:I wont call this show as a debut.I have already made my debut in films nd in serials it was "jo kahunga sach kahunga" on DD 1.After it i was searching for a good project.I was not much interested in workin for television thus i was waiting for a good role.During my break i also did many short films and theatre.Ihave done Pritish Nandy's "Kis Kis Bang Bang" and "Mumbai Cutting".During this period only i got the offer from YRF Banner for Powder and i could not stop myself from being a part of it.Ithought Powder was a good venture.
Bigger Canvas:The show was shot like a movie and its a big canvas. Its a different show, also because you wont see any glossy or glamorous things in it.Its a rough environment show. This show raises its voice against the drug mafias. It has a really sensitive subject. The real life experiences during my journalism have proved really beneficial for me in playing the role.

Decisions She Took:The biggest thing is that "Powder" is a performance oriented show and i have a strong role in it. I am playing the role of Brinda Sawhney, a female cop in the Narcotics Control Bureau. I have the responsibilty of proving myself in the male world. Brinda is an aggressive and outgoing girl, tough in her decisions. She tries to prove everything. I always wanted to portray such a charcter to which i can relate.
