Michelle McManus (Pop Idol 2004)

In UK, we have Pop Idol similar to Indian Idol, Pop Idol 2004 winner was "Michelle McManus". She was 22 stones (139.706446 KiloGram) when selected Pop Idol, why she was selected because she has a voice to die for, she is a natural singer. ( have a look at her pictures www.michelleofficial.co.uk)

Similarly, the criteria for Indian Idol should be singing, singing and only singing, one can always improve/work on his/her makeovers, presentation (this comes by confidence). for exapmle, There was this guy (Sunil Mann ), he was selected Gladrags Mr. India 2004, he was from a small haryana village, did not speak english, was not presentable at all, but he worked on his makeover and went on to win the contest. so makeovers and other things can be done later(these are not hard things to acheive), the only criteria should be singing.

I totally agree with Sonu Nigam, who said, Indian Idol is all about singing, you can work on makeovers, presentation and other things later but first you have to concentrate on singing. Most of the times you will be giving voice to some hero/heroine so makeovers and other things does not come into picture, only thing that counts is your voice and singing.

So, IMHO, Indian Idol 2 should be Amey or Karunya, they are amazing.. have beautiful voice..

Indian janta should vote on basis of singing....

but till date the focus is on X-Factor than singing, right?
if not, Karunya and Amey in bottom 3!!! cant be justified. Karunya performed well, sang well but he was in bottom 3, now think about Ravi, Sandeep and Panna.... why they were in top three ALWAYS?, I wonder, they dont even have that so hyped X-Factor (except panna, I know girls are crazy about him ) :)

hey thats very well said just honest. i have always been saying the same thing and strangely i am sure more than 60% of the people agree with it, yet the voting seems to be going haywire...
even if the voting is based purely on performance, i dont think ravi or sandeep are better performers than amey or karunya 😕
i think the public gives sympathy vote only...

I am with you on this one. Very well said 👏 👏 .........and I completely admire Sonu Nigam for the comments he gives. Sadly..........none of the other two judges think singing is more important. Farah thinks performance is more important and Anu Malik.........what to say about him..........all I can say is that he can not think anything except for rhyming some dumb words and making an equally dumb 'sher' out of it

I think there can be other reasons for this kind of voting

1) Sony is creating shocks to increase their TRP (they never say that the contestants in bottm 3 have received least votes, listen to their words carefully next time)

2) BETTING (As I already mentioned in my other post)

3) Region, caste, other things like panna is very cute for girls of certain age.

I too agree with you that singing is the most important thing,if you have a nice voice definitely people are going to listen you perform, but if the voice sucks no one is going to hear you.

Sonu is completely right voice comes first everything can follow later the look etc

After all for how long can you bank on the X Factor in the music industry there is so much of competition if you don't sing well you will surely stagnate. 😡
