my wishful prediction..
Night falls.. Prats asks shanky if he wud have coffee.. Shanky smiles n says yes y not.. as
reaches Kitchen, she hears Shanky's low voice talking 2 himself.."pi le beta, kya pata ye
aakhri baar ho.." Prats feels sad n goes 2 make coffee.. she is deeply immersed in her
thots abt her complex bandhans, when she hears a familiar tone.."hullo" its Shanky.. he has
come 2 inform tht Bua has come n 2 make it three cups.. shanky ga. zes her for a moment and
asks her.."wat happened".. she nods her head.. Shanky smiles off n says.. "i know u r
thinking abt last nite.. dont worry it wont happen again.. n i will try 2 keep Sumo as happy
as possible" "and you?" asks Prats.. it was jst in her mind..she didnt knew herself how it
came out... Shanky looks at her smilingly and says.. "i will live... bt i dont know how.."
and quickly moves out of kitchen.. her eyes fill up.. coffee is ready she takes it to hall n
greets Bua. Bua has a gud chat with Prats over the coffee.. she tells abt her luv story and
how it was jst all too painful.. she was indecisive all the way thru.. bt at the end, she
had 2 chose one either 2 break her family's trust or her luver's trust.. n she chose 2 b
with her luver coz she cudnt see him in such a distress bt tht she was jst too late.. her
luver was dead n tht she had 2 pay a heavy price 4 her late decision... Prats remembers
Shanky's words 4rm last nite.. "I wud jst die without u Prateeksha.. i cant live without u"
Suddenly a sense of fear overcomes Prats.. she becomes very much concerned 4 Shanky..she
feels uneasy .. wat if something terrible happens and she loses Shanky forever bcoz of her
wrong decision.. is her sacrifice 4 Sumo worth losing Shanky.. wud she able 2 forgive
herself 4 wat Shanky goes thru.. wat happens of his mom and dad.. Shanky is their only son..
will Sumo or araina forgive her.. bt thn she remembers her promises.. she cant break them..
she is in a fix n is indecisive, confused n very afraid as to wat will happen of Shanky..
she rushes 2 Shanky's room n sees he has jst dozed of in chair by the fire place.. there is
some picture in his hands pressed to his chest.. she slowly removes his hands n pulls it
out.. its her picture with Shanky 4rm a celebration party for a successful deal in the
office.. both so happy and smiling.. it occurs 2 her how shanky had filled her void life
with happiness and a feeling tht she had never felt b4.... the lonliness she had felt for
soo long had jst vanished.. she smiles faintly at Shanky.. covers him up..n retreats herself
and sits by a window.. with picture pressed at her heart gazing at stars, she slowly fells
asleep..
its dawn n light pours in thru the window.. she opens her eyes and finds Shanky gazing at
her face.. shanky quickly takes his eyes off, bends n pulls off picture 4rm her hands n
says.. "this is MINE" Prats stares.. he explains "its of MY office remember.. so i can keep
it" "u better get fresh n b ready as bua is taking us to temple" and leaves.. Prats has a
faint smile watches him go for minute, sighs softly n gets up..
In next hour an so, all three of them are down at the Lord Shiva temple. They Worshipped
and put their offerings. On their way back, bua showed them a small Devi Ma's temple up on
a small hill. She said it is said whoever goes their n worships their wishes r fullfilled
and the rituals done their have grt significance. PPl go their 4 mrg rituals as it is said
the vows taken their r never broken. She asked them 2 visit it and she wud wait there 4
them as she wudnt b able to climb up stairs with her weak knees. Shanky Prats went ahead n
climbed up.. while they were putting their shoes, a piece from the metal rack pierced into
Shanky's right thumb.. he gave a little shriek n pulled his hand back.. blood started
dripping out. He quickly pressed it to control the oozing. Prats got scared. She quickly
took out her kerchief to wrap it and tried to grab his hand, but he quickly moved away n hid
his hand backwards.. she stared.. and told smiling faintly "oh no, thnx.. i need 2 learn 2
go around without u.. i m so habitual 2 b with u it wud b difficult 4 me if i dont
control.." and he took out his own, grabbed the piece and threw it away and tried 2 control
the bleed with his hanky but it was still dripping.. he ignored it and turned around 2 climb
the stairs towards temple.. Suddenly Prats felt very bad..tears welled up in her eyes.. she
cud c the blood drops on the stairs.. she followed it, he was standing near a pillar gazing
at the beautiful valley below.. she got near him.. Shanky looked at her, saw the tears, and
looked away and spoke in a low voice.. u wanted it.. u didnt want me near u.. u didnt want
me in ur life.. u dont want 2 spend ur life with me.. Prats was overwhelmed and cudnt
control any more and burst out in tears.. "then u tell me wat shud i do.. i cant accept u..
i have made promises.. all trust me.. i have assured them i wont break their trust.. how can
i b mean.. how can i break their trust.. the promises i made" Shanky turned towards her
hold her shoulders n asked her "bt u luv me right?" Prats nodded her head in yes n "u do
want 2 spend ur life with me right?" Prats again nodded her head in yes and said "i want..
yes..i want" "thn come" and Shanky took her into the temple "u made the promises i didnt.. u
cant break it bt i can.. " said he in a firm voice.. Prats was puzzled.. she didnt knew wat
he was upto... he went 2 near the idol.. took the sindoor kept there in his fingers n put it
on Prats.. she was shocked.. "wat did u do?" Shanky ignored her.. pulled out a chain with a
heart pendant and put it around her neck.. He said i especially bought this 4 u and i always
wanted 2 put it around ur neck.. he grabbed her hand and vowed infront of Devi Ma with
folded hands.. "oh Lord, i hereby take Prateeksha as my wedded wife in ur presence and i
promise 2 take care of her n stay by her side all my life. I would only b hers and noone
else in this life and coming all life. Bless us lord." she did nt know wat 2 say.. he
turned around her and said.. this doesnt mean i m binding u 2 me.. bt it does mean tht i m
binding me 2 u.. u r free 2 marry whoever u want.. these r not proper rituals n its not a
proper mrg.. its jst my vow and tht sindoor is token of it.. i will have u and only u in my
this life.... its up to u if u wanna accept me or not.. i wont force u into anything.. or
to follow it... i jst tried 2 make the decision easier 4 u.." Prats was speechless and it
took a while 4 her to get wat jst transpired.. Shanky hold her shoulders n took her to the
nearest chair.. she jst clasped Shanky's palm tight and hid her head on his chest and started crying silently as it slowly dawned upon her wat exactly jst happened between them.....
