Of course I would never ever want Archana to face the humiliation of watching Manav putting mangalsutra on another girl ......of course if after all she does he still wants to marry someone else ( for whatever reason ) then I definitely want to see Archana wish him luck and walk away from his life forever ....continue with studies .

At least have satisfaction of knowing that she tried her best .

I agree with you on most of your post.. except for just this part that it wasn't her fault... yes, it wasn't her fault to doubt Manav cos she was newly married and the doubts were such that wud arise in any normal girl's head.

Her fault was that she didn't give her husband a chance at all despite his various attempts.. even when Varsha told her about how he saved her and that she trusted him completely, Archana did not trust him or even bother to listen.

But I agree that in proportion to her mistake, she is suffering far too much and that makes me sad.

Well frankly nikita I have seen far too many such arrange marraiges going wrong coz the boy's party or the girl's party lied . The boy is fortunately less affected if the lies r harmless like the girl hides from him that she has glasses by wearing contacts till she is 'passed ' by the guys family who comes to see her . { I actually know one such case , and the poor boy cudnt do a thing about it and they r happily married today] but

if the lies r about CHARACTER .........ummm.............it becomes scary . So scary that I personally sympathise with the scared party .

Yes Varshu's story cud have set her thinking..........but only that . It wud hve set her thinking till sghe deliberated on it and slowly came to a conclusion............nothing more . And it did.........on engagement day she refused to marry Satish .

If people expect that after hearing Varshu's story she will give a whoop of joy and stand in front of Bappa with tears brimming in her eyes saying Now my heart is telling me even this accusation is false , I believe him and I am going back today ..............I cannot digest it , it is too unrealistic . It is the same thing as saying Manav saved Varsha and Manohar so archu shud go and bear Savita's torture for life as the 'boy ' is good . All Varshu's story can do at the most is set her thinking . Remember she is a girl who has been sheltered all her life and decisions were made for her by other people..........her mother , father , brother . With Varsha it is diffrent ..........Varsha was self confident , a working girl , used to taking decisions on her own in a jiffy . BTW , her quick decisions about Ashwin were not so wise were they ?Inspite of knowing him so well she didnt have a clue about his lies . And thats the way con guys r .

Arranged marraiges r no joke , and from that point of view i cannot blame Archu at all . Besides , Manav did NOT come up with the proof of his innocence . He waited till Damodar used his brains and got it . Archu was merely a victim as much as he was . One cannot hold her indecisive feminity against her to this extent ..........for what she will endure now is nothing short of ABUSE .

@koolsadhu: Even I didn't expect her to give a whoop of delight and say to bappa that my husband is innocent and I trust him.. it is understandable, but she did not acknowledge his goodness in saving Varsha at all, not till the engagement day. This was something even Sulochana had accepted, that too the same day when Varsha had told her.. despite the fact that she hated him very badly and knew him very little.. I remember clearly the words that she said when Varsha tried to point out that Manav was a good guy, "Jab apna hi sikka khota ho (Manav) to doosron ko dosh nahi dete (Ajit)." I understand she had doubted his goodness before thinking that it was an act to impress her and have consential sex... but even after Varsha explained things?? All right don't trust the guy so soon, at least give him a chance is all I say.

Well , ok , perhaps . But even that giving him chance thing wud have not accomplished anything , wud it ? This giving a chance thing wud be hearing Manav out face to face . And Manav wud have said I am not guilty I am framed by Ajit ...........without any proof of innocence . So in effect it was not gonna remove the doubts .

What i feel is , character assasination blames have to be proven false by proof alone and that too , solid proof . For instance , Manav clearly heard the conversation of the pimp and Ajit himself and so he knew Archu was blameless and he rushed to save her in that brothel .

See how Satish's family reacted to the character blames on Archu . Perfectly natural behaviour for a boys party in an arranged marraige . It is like a business deal , and the party hearing the rumors will say ..........maybe the girl is good , but I wont take the risk . Who wants this jhikjhik ? I prefer a girl who has no rumors trailing behind her as I dont have the time or energy to pursue these rumors , inspect them and see their validity .

See how Girish took a decision in a jiffy to keep Shravni as seperate as possible from Savita when he saw her atrocious true nature . The isue is not Character in this case , all I am saying is this is how families react in marraiges and theres nothing wrong in it . No one is gonna say OH they r in love , lets not break their hearts and listen to their side etc . This expectation in itself is unreal .

In this sense , the Karanjkars were never wrong , they were totally justified in looking out for their girl . Ajit framed him as a predatory stalker ...........not an uncommon thing in middle class Maharasthrian society . The famous Marathi drama .........it is a record breaking event in Marathi stage history ...........TO MI NAVHECH ...........enacted by veteran Marathi actor Prabhakar Panshikar , is on this theme only..........a con man marries 5 or 6 girls in diffrent states under diffrent aliases and leads happily married life with all of them . When he marries twice in Mumbai itself and the two ladies run into each other , he is found out and hauled to court and he stoutly says TO MI NAVECH .........meaning , I AM NOT HE . It was terrible , coz this drama was based on a real life criminal called Kazi who cud speak fluent Marathi and had married and impregnated several Marathi girls .

This is such a delicate , dangerous situation that any girls party wud be scared , especially after witnessing the boys mom Savita who was a real piece of work . She did not help . I saw the episode yesterday here in the US about the khota sikka thing . It was sad but I wont really

blame her so much either . She had nothing to go on at that point........neither did she know Manav that well nor did she have any proof . all she had were her trembling , newly sprouted instincts of love . What for Varshu to say excitedly Go Tai Go Tai ........Archu always was the wiser , the more mature of the two . Varshu herself had left the house as excitedly and then fallen in love with a stalker in that same frenzy . And both her decisions had been proven wrong . How cud Archu take Varshu's word ? See what Sulochna said ........ok he is good but that doesnt alter much . The deliberation that Sulochna and Archu did in reaching a decision is the way most Marathi families wud react ............it is very normal .

I will say this much .........where Archu shud have thought was the one who framed was AJit and Ajit himself had been accused of similiar lies and predatory motives . On this she shud have definetely mulled , she didnt do it coz she didnt seem to have that much brainpower at all .

But, it is not right to blame Manav.... Its simple, first Archana did mistake and now Manav is doing it.. the way Archu is regretting, Manav will also regret...

But, given the fact i that Manav has lot more than Archana since day he married her.. Plz think about this without being partial.. Hey, am i rude?? If yes, then sorry!!!!

guptill i am not blaming manav . All i am saying is dont blame Archana either , bas . Really , it wasnt her fault , at that point she didnt know manav that well . Today she does...........as many facets of his personality have opened before her . Today she has proof to g on , she has observed various other things too . At that point the marraige was just 15 days old bas . Koi bhi ladki dar jaati . But no one seems to understand this .And all say Jaise Manav ko tadpaya waise ise bhi Manav ke peeche bhagna chahiye . Arrey yaar , whatz this . Think rationally guys . Today she will not just run after Manav , poor girl , but suffer intense humiliation and gaalis from his awful mom . What has she done yaar , socho aur bolo .

Remember I even gave Archu a clean chit for not trusting Manav at the Satyanarayan Puja.. and your post makes sense why she didn' t give Manav a chance... I don't know somewhere I feel disappointed with her still... how cud even Vaishali trust Manav... can't explain through logic (now please don't jump at me and say i'm being a blind Manav fan)

I just feel sorry for both of them.
