A Letter To Sujata Sehgal

Dear Sujata,

Hi!

The character you brought to life, Ila Gujaral passed away in the show today. And i probably echo the sentiments of almost everyone that there is a deep sense of loss about the fact that we wont see Ila from tomorrow and that you will probably be no longer a part of the show...

I am still hoping that they do bring u back in flashback memories of some sort, but that still wont fill the void your character and you as an actor par excellence have left in the show..

The first time i saw you on screen was in Dhoom Machao Dhoom as the strict Desi version of Prof McGonagall..And needless to add you were able to bring great class to that character without it turning stereotypical..

After the show ended, i wondered if i will ever see you again in another show, cos the whole ensemble of dhoom machao dhoom was one talented newbie bunch..

A lot of them have finally been able to break in the mainstream and are playing the leads..and every time i saw any of them on screen, my thoughts went back to you wondering where u were..

It seems u did do couple of shows in between which i was unaware of so when i came to know you were going to be in this new show, i felt genuinely happy for you..

Of course at that time i had no intention of watching this show till i caught a glimpse of prida and was hooked..

Apart from prida and the ofcourse the rest of the jodis, the one steady plus point of the show has been YOU.

Fans of the show love and respect Ila Gujaral and a lot of credit must go to you for this.

You brought class, dignity and a sense of warmth to the character which was awesome..A mom who is modern in her approach, who is a successful businesswoman and a fabulous mom who is more a friend is a rarity on Indian Television.

A lot of us have said it too countless number of times, You/Ila Gujaral have to be one of the coolest and best moms in Indian TV history..

Sure you never had any particular thread dedicated to you, but if it matters you were as equally loved as the rest of the 6, which is why it is hard to believe that we wont be seeing you anymore in Love Ne Mila Di Jodi As Ila Gujaral.

I absolutely want to throw some nastiest curses at the creative team who took the decision to kill off your character knowing fully well how much your character was loved and respected, but i wont apart from the fact that IF frowns upon any sort of bashing even if it includes the creatives who right now are being their sadistic best by giving us the awesome new year gift by taking you away from us and the undeniable fact that they were responsible for giving us you/Ila Gujaral in the first place, i will shut up for now..

For the first time i am wishing LNMDJ was a BT show, it is already getting there with the Body Doubles, Bloopers, etc..cos it would be a given thing that your character would return from the dead or that Ila Gujaral had a twin sister who makes an entry..

But since it is not chances of us seeing you back are slim *sigh*

I just wanted to take this opportunity to commend you for the brilliant work you have put in, for giving us Ila and also wish you all the best wishes for your future projects.

I am very very sorry for disappearing like that after making my post last week, my net died and missed you all like hell..Once again very sorry guys and i promise i will catch up with what i have missed asap..

Amazingly written Shwetha!...I absolutely loved this character even though she was a bit shady in the beginning. I loved how she always kept the girls together on everything and it shows in the way the girls are with each other now. It really does make them look like a real family...

Awww i wish tellytadka would send it to her!!i want her back in the showw!!

Yup PriDa reeled me in the show... but Sujata as Ela Gujral kept my faith in telly moms alive...
she is one class actress... the way she played Ela.. kudos to her

Still don't understand why she had to die😡.. why couldn't it have been the other good for nothing.. u know who..

she brought her own class and standard to the show!...nothing will ever be the same...i had tears and goosebumps watching her death scene today..sujata brought life to this character..and had a deep impact...this void like you rightly said shweths can never be filled..

Its a sad day...we mourn for Ila Gujral!

Anju: Thanks a lot anju..A part of me is super duper mad and the other part is coming to terms with the fact that we wont see Ila/Sujata from tomorrow onwards...

Made this post today cos tomorrow i know we all will feel even worse...

And agree initially when she was shown as grey and the positive shades, she was able to do it with an amazing amount of ease...It is a great loss for the show..

Ofcourse we do get Sulbha Arya, who is a fabulous actress, but still Sujata is Sujata...

amby🤗 how are you? i hope she gets to read this..u know it is usually the main leads who tend to get all the limelight, here she was technically a supporting character but her presence was sort of nucleus to the entire show..

Mru:🤗 Totally agree, if they had to kill someone why not veggie mummy...With due respect to the actress who plays her ( i can imagine how exciting it must be to come to the sit and stare at a ceiling), characterwise, veggie mummy was a let down...She let down her sons when they needed her the most and her hubby who would have assumed she will be their sons' strength after he was gone...

They could have shown her in a coma or something or someone who was simply seriously ill...And they could have played the scenario of the couples being happy around her while fighting when they are alone..

is that too much to ask, wait dont even answer that...

Maz: U know couple of months ago in one of sarah's thread i discussed the possiblity of Ila getting killed off, i even had the exact image what they showed in the precap, the guys looking on while the girls break down andt the scene getting compared to the ballu's death...Had this mad hope that this wont happen..

i already asked my source couple of weeks ago, if they were planning to kill ila and gave a sort of detailed para on how much she was loved and all...never got a straight reply, now i realize why...

It was horrible to see her die and the girls😭

We wanted a happy new year and look whom we got..

The Saxena's have the MOST USELESS set of relatives..

First veggie mom and now this mausi and her clan..Where the heck was she when the dad died and their mom went into a coma...

Fantastic letter shweta.I am not such a good writer but you have said everything i wanted to say about sujata and the character she brought to life ila gujral.I am seriously annoyed at the cv's right now first of all they kill off a character we all loved so much and then they decide to bring in 3 sadakchap muft khors to replace her.😡
