Santu in my opinion gave a sensible verdict given all the background and the circumstances. DM may be termed selfish, old, or whatever one may wish to, but anywhere in the world, a father will try always to stand by his own blood. Santu gave her reasons for the verdict. She said that the relationship, though made in ignorance of the fact that Arjan is DM's son, is still not acceptable as per the norms of society. And that is why the couple must separate. Not once did she say she is saving her own marriage. Santu is not the selfish one among the sisters. She has a history of being the quiet, unassuming, patient and the more responsible one among the sisters.
