Khemi hadn't actually realised the extent to which Arjun despised her friendship with Hiten. That and the fact that as far as she is concerned it is all innocent.
She hasn't understood that it is all about perception. What I see as innocent may be misconstrued by you as something else. Thus it is always better not to put yourself in a position where people could point fingers.
Arjun has only heard and seen half-truths and based his understanding on that. Khemi should have told him right at the start, and if not then, then certainly when he slapped her the first time. She should have explained things properly and reassured him. Whilst I appreciate that marriages are based on vishwas, if you have a history or past, atleast be honest about it to your partner and then expect them to have vishwas. Khemi is essentially the one who first did the wrong thing by hiding her past with Hiten from Arjun. A small crush is negligable, a huge love affair that practically divided a family and a whole village is not!
Arjun should have more sense than to listen to people on the periphery. He ought to have gone to the heart of the problem and just asked HitMi what the deal was.
But then I guess if we were all sensible like this all the time, then the world wouldn't be as screwed up is it is sometimes 🤔
And in all honesty, Khemi has kind of brought this on herself. What is the need for her to constantly put herself in Hiten's way? Why does she need to stitch his shirt, to console him to dress his hand? What is Toral there for? Just to spectate?
