Could I add my 2.5 cents worth? My version differs . . . hope that's OK .(and that this has not been proposed before) . . . no, I don't have it down to every word uttered because I'm still sketching it out, but here's some of what I'd like to see happen (for the time being):
1. Both Mili & Neetu are in on the secret and after the initial shock, are ecstatic for their sweetheart of a sis. They're going to aid and abet her trysts with Abhi.
2. Two really sweeping love scenes on the terrace are mandatory. The Sethi household is oblivious to the rendezvous because Mili studies in that main room (i) to thwart anyone from interrupting the lovers i.e. if mum&dad hear something strange, she can always say "it's me, don't worry, go back to sleep"; and (ii) because she really does have to study 😊
3. One tryst scene involves Mili and Neetu showing up 'unexpectedly' to pull Abhi's leg about his interest in their sis & have a great time doing it. Poor fellow!!
4. One episode at the Univ. where Simi is done for the day and is walking with an armful of books in conversation with a colleague. Abhi shows up walking towards her with that gorgeous smile . . . he addresses her as "Simi-di'; she asks 'Abhi what on earth are you doing here'? He says that he had to come down to the Univ. to get some info about his research project and thought it would be a good idea to look her up and see if she'd like to go get some coffee. She introduces him to her colleague as her sister-in-law's younger brother (see? no need to lie) . . . the colleague and he exchange the usual pleasantries and leaves. Now the 'Simi-Di' stuff goes out the window 😊 and he wants her to spend a good part of the day that remains with him. Well, what does she tell them at home 'cause she's always back by a certain time? What's the problem? Call & tell 'em you have some research to do at the library and will be late. How late? Could be pretty late. Calls home. How is she to get home? Oh . . . you wouldn't guess who just showed up 'Abhi!' and he's offered to give me a ride to and from the library? 'But dear, why incovenience him' . . . Simi hesitates, Abhi notices and says that he'll speak with the parent and assure them that it's no problem, he has friends in the area and whenever 'Simi-Di' is ready, he'll drop her home . . . you can fill in the details of the fun they have 😊
5. One episode where he & Simi go out on a picnic (at least we'll get to see another venue) . . . she can 'bunk' Univ. again as she did the last time . . . lots of fun stuff . . .
6. One spat episode where she suggests yet again that he's acting childish and he gets really angry and surly; he won't speak to her so she asks if he wants to leave; Yeah, he does . . . drive back with a surly Abhi and either no conversation or he gives her monosyllabic answers. He drops her off and as he drives back begins to feel miserable - pangs of guilt and contrition by the bucket-load - and calls her. They patch things up.
7. Now the plot takes a turn because it's been several months of clandestine meetings & Abhi's getting pretty fed-up . . . during one meeting on the terrace Abhi tells her that he wants to be wiith her all the time . . . none of this secret stuff . . . he wants to let everyone know and if anyone objects toughsky-sh-tsky . . . uh . . . she's not prepared . . . just then Mr Sethi wakes up and when he comes into the room where Mili is hitting her books, he hears something up on the terrace and goes to investigate (Mili is scared stiff) . . . turns on the lights and sees the 2 of them . . . well Abhi is on a crusade and throws all caution to the wind . . . Mr. Sethi freezes, stunned, it's not registering in his brain . . . what's going on?! Abhi turns around and tells Mr. Sethi that he loves his daughter and wants to get married . . . right now! Mr. Sethi is even more puzzled and absolutely speechless! Abhi drags Simi past her father and drives the 2 of them in his jeep to wait for the day to dawn. Mr. Sethi walks back down shocked, with his head in his hands . . . by now the commotion has woken up Mrs. Sethi as well and she comes out and asks 'what's up?' . . . he says 'lets talk in our room' . . . Oh my! Oh my! What are they going to do now?!! After sitting in the jeep until daylight Abhi drives the 2 of them to his home, surprises his parents at the dining table and tells them his intentions . . . even more bewildered looks and gaping mouths . . . huh? What's going on? What's wrong with this kid? So off he goes . . . he takes Simi to the temple and asks the priest to do the needful. Well . . . now it's done . . . they're married and nobody can do a damn thing about it . . .
8. After all is said and done, she's come away with nothing . . . no change of clothes . . . he can always go home to get his stuff but she cannot go back to KB for her stuff . . . they call Mili and ask if she can pack a bunch of Simi's stuff and bring it to place XYZ . . . Mili agrees and takes Simi's things without being observed (because Neetu is there to help) . . . Abhi has enough money to put them up at a swanky hotel for the time being . . .
9. So now every one knows . . . talk of the town (kinda sorta) . . . Anita begins to detest Simi and holds her entirely responsible . . . 'cradle snatcher!!!' the Tanejas are extremely upset and recriminations all around . . . at the Univ. several sympathetic colleagues support Simi and some are gossipmongers (can have a whole bunch on this) because Simi does have to go back to work and Abhi has to continue working towards his PhD (he'll end up running Papa's enterprises before long) . . . Abhi asks his TV reporter friend if she knows of an apt. that they can rent . . . all that gets worked out fine . . .
10. Anuj, Mili and Neetu are fully supportive of the couple but poor Anuj . . . he cannot do much about Anita's anger and meets his sister at her appt. secretly . . . Anuj and Abhi get along great . . . we can have a scene where everyone sits down to a fun lunch cooked by all (yup, even the men)
11. A couple of episodes where either Simi has invited her colleagues or Abhi his buddies for a party to their pad . . .
I'll work on the next series of episodes (including parallel stuff about the other Sethi kids) if y'all like the way this is going . . .
