Katrina recently was asked why there isn't any movie with Salman in the pipeline and Kat said that she feels Maybe audience don't want to see Salman and her coz they know they are together so there's no interest.
This is the interview

I sorta agree.Coz people constantly keep reading about the real-life couples so there is no Interest to see them in films.
Whereas, when there is a fresh pair there is more excitement and curiosity.

i differ...i feel like when i see a real life couple on screen together it just makes the whole atmosphere different. i personally love watching real life couples on screen, if i am a fan of them. it just makes everything different when you know the two actors on screen are actually a real life couple. there is a different feeling there. like i personally love seeing kajol and ajay on screen or ranbir and deepika (before their so called break up) on screen, amit ji and jaya ji, hema ji and dharmendra ji. they just bring about a whole different meaning...but then for other real life couples, i just hate seeing them on screen,, like abhi aish or salman kartrina. just really annoyes me. i'm biased with the abhi/aish couple because i really wanted abhi to be with rani. but oh wells!

I love watching off-screen couples! Abhishek and Aishwarya make a fantastic couple and Guru was a huge success and a brilliant film.

Looking forward to Raavan. If you have a good film director, producer and a great script, everything works.

But I also think that chemistry is between 2 characters and not only actors...
For eg-No one liked Shahid Kareena when they were together, all their films flopped...but when they did Jab We Met everyone loved their pairing so it proves that to a large extent the chemistry is dependent on the story and the characters.

That's so true. I always feel that. I don't know what this hullabaloo with chemistry is all about. If the movie is good, then the chemistry will be there.
People were making fun of Ranbir-Katrina's chemistry but it did worders for APKGK because the movie worked and the characters worked.

Shahid-Kareena jodi became hit after there was news of them breaking up. That's not to say JWM wasn't a good movie. JWM was great.

I guess people find them boring. That is why people also get interested in movies when they think a star is involved with their co-actor (not their spouse/gf/bf).
