The joy of festival of lights and prosperity is doubled this year for television actor and Chembur resident Sachin Shroff ' yes, he has his wife of six months, television actor Juhi Parmar, for company and together they are resolved to make it a Diwali to remember.
This is the first Diwali in ten years of Juhi's residing in Mumbai when she will not visit her hometown Jaipur, as she points out, "For the first time I will not visit Jaipur. As the traditions demand, I will be here with my in-laws." Her mother is coming down to fill the void. She will also light diyas at her Malad home.
Speaking about their plans for the festive day, Sachin says, "In the morning we will visit the temple, perform Lakshmi Puja, and decorate the house with diyas and rangolis but have fewer crackers this year."
As for shopping, it is ethnic outfits all the way ' a churidhar-kurta for Sachin and sari or salwar suits for Juhi. "In fact, there are some new suits left from my wedding trousseau. I may wear them." No fire crackers as she reveals, "I have never liked the noise it generates. I might light phuljadis." As for indulging in sweets, Juhi doesn't have a sweet tooth, "I go more for chatpata stuff."
Sachin seems to have a surprise for Juhi and is sure she too has one for him because she is good at springing surprises. It could be a day out or a gift that makes her feel happy. So, here's wishing the newly weds a Happy Diwali!
