| They were once a real-life couple, but it didn't last.
It seems their reel-life romance was doomed before it even began.
A few days back, Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna had been approached to do a film together. Dimple has refused the offer. Dimple: Role wasn't exciting
When contacted, Dimple told hitList, "I am not doing that film. I heard it out, but the role did not excite me. I have informed my decision to the people concerned." The film in question is Door Bahut Door Saat Samundar Ke Paar, which according to Dimple, "is being made by a non-regular film-maker."
Asked if working with Khanna would've been an uncomfortable proposition, Dimple said, "That was certainly not the reason why I am not doing that film. I was not kicked about the role, that's just about it. I would love to do a film with Rajesh Khanna. It will be an honour to me."
Film's an Avtaar extension
Khanna had been quite buoyant about working with Dimple for this film. When asked by certain sections of the media if he was being paired romantically opposite Dimple, he had said with his characteristic humour, "Obviously. Dimple and I are paired romantically opposite each other. She can't be against me!" According to Khanna, "The film is an extension of Avtaar, and will be shot mainly in London." Thrice unlucky
This is the third time with Dimple and Rajesh that they've almost been cast in a film together. In the past, at least two attempts to cast them together have borne no fruits.
While the first attempt, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar did not see the light of day, the second attempt Sapne To Apne too went haywire. Says Dimple, "I shot for Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, but in the second case, the producer was from the South and the money being offered was very less."
When hitList contacted Khanna ten days back, to speak about the film, he had said, "I would love to speak about it." At the time of going to print with this story, however, Khanna was unavailable for comment. |
