Deepika Padukone, daughter of Indian badminton champion Prakash and Ujjwala Padukone began her career as a model. Born and brought up in Bangalore, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the Fashion Industry. She followed that by doing her first and only Kannada film "Aishwarya". In 2007, she made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om directed by Farah Khan. The film was a blockbuster and Deepika followed it up with Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) where she was paired opposite Ranbir, and Love Aaj Kal(2009) opposite Saif Ali Khan.

Ranbir Kapoor, son of yesteryear stars Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, made his film debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. Ranbir was born and brought up in Mumbai and is part of the fourth generation of the Kapoor Family of Bollywood. Saawariya released on Diwali in 2007 and clashed with Deepika's OSO. Prior to his debut, Ranbir studied filmmaking and acting in the US and assisted SLB on his previous film Black. He followed his debut with praise and commercial success through Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Wake Up Sid.(2009)

According to rumours they might appear together on screen in Vicky Singh's Mera Jahaan.
