Aamir Khan will star in a Priyadarshan directed film on the social stigma attached to AIDS. "My next film is a meaningful and realistic take on AIDS. I have narrated the story to Aamir and he really liked it, though I have not presented him a bound script yet," Priyadarshan told PTI. The film will also feature south actor Mohan Lal, who is a good friend of Priyan. Priyadarshan has mostly opted for Akshay Kumar when doing Bollywood comedies. Back in August 2008 when the film was announced Akshay was said to do the film. "I've discussed it with Akshay. We'll roll in July-August 2009. Malay-alam actor Mohanlal is also part of it. After Kanjeevaram, I've begun to return to my roots as a serious filmmaker. That doesn't mean I won't make entertainers. In fact, the AIDS film would be an attempt to blend entertainment with a message," Priyan had said then. Priyadarshan is known in Bollywood for comedies films such as
Hungama, Garam Masala and
Bhagam Bhag. His south film
Kanchivaram won the national award for best film at the 55th National Film Awards 2007. His comedy,
De Dhana Dhan starring
Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty,
Katrina Kaif,
Paresh Rawal,
Neha Dhupia,
Sameera Reddy,
Asrani and Johny Lever is in post production. The AIDS film will be Priyadarshan's first with Aamir. In the future he hopes to work with
Amitabh Bachchan.
"I have worked with Mr Bachchan on advertisements but I want to shoot a feature film with him. It would be a great experience," he says.
