Part 1
The episode begins with Shastriji telling the Panchayat in the Aachar Sanyataa's 15th chapter, it is specified that for if a Rajpurohit's wife has left him, before getting married again he has to apologise to all five elements before which he got married the first time- this is called the kshama vrat (forgiveness fast). Chachaji shouts there is no such thing, Shastriji is just talking on his own. Shastriji tells the Panchayat that please read this chapter yourself and explain to Chachaji what is written here. Both families and the villagers look on. The Panchayat says yes Shastriji is right, they have talked about the vrat in detail but the question arises if the Rajpurohit is ready to do such a difficult vrat. Everyone looks at Dev. The sarpanch says before saying anything, listen to what is expected in this vrat. The sarpanch says Shastriji you have found a solution so please explain to your son-in-law how to keep this fast.
Shastriji says Dev Babu you have to apologise to the air, water, sky, earth and fire, you have to decorate god's chariot and take it around five temples using your body. Dev and the entire family look on, radhika, dadi and vaishali are shocked, mrinalini is smiling. Shastriji continues-the apologies are done in the following manner, for the earth you have to be barefoot, for the sky you have to sleep out of your house in the open, for the air you have to be alive on just the wind ie you have to keep the nirjala vrat, for the fire you have to light several lights in the temple and for the water you have to take your chariot filled with water and go to each temple and do an abhishek/puja. Dev is listening. Shastriji says this needs to be done for 3 days continuously from sunrise to sunset. Chachaji, Arjun and Mrinalini are smiling. The panchayat asks Dev if he is ready to do this hard fast. Dev looks at Radhika and says haan, mujhe yeh kshama vrat karna sweekar hai (I accept this hard fast). Everyone is shocked, the villagers start chanting. his name. Chachaji stops the chanting and says here a person's life and death is in question and you are chanting and says Shastriji, for your daughter's happiness, you are telling Dev to go through so much hardship. Chachaji tells Vaishali and Dadi to stop Dev, he will not be able to take such a hard vrat. Dev tells Chachaji I have made up my mind for my family's honor, I will take any hardship. Part 2
The responsibilities by a RajPUrohit include keeping his word and this is what I am doing. Vaishali tries to say something but Dev says mother, instead of stopping me if you give me encouragement, I will be happy. Dev says main kal ke suryoday se apna ek kshamavrat karne ke liye tayar hoon, mujhe aagya dijiye (from sunrise tomorrow, I am ready to start my fast, please excuse me). Govind gopal Radhe Radhe starts playing in the background. Dev looks at Radhika and leaves. Everyone is chanting his name. Radhika meets his outside as Dev is walking to his car and says please don't do this fast, for 3 days without eating, and pullingthe chariot to drag to 5 temples... Dev is smiling and looking at her. Dev says tumhe meri itni fikar karte dekhkar ab mujhe phir se yakeen ho gaya ki tum mujhse pyar karti ho (seeing you worried this way has made me realise again that you love me), your words have helped me strengthen my resolve,to have you next to me , I will go through any test; to make you mine, I will do anything. The dream I had to make you my house's Choti Bahu will become a reality. Dev smiles. The three villians are entering a car. Mrinalini says Chachaji if Dev is successful completing this then? Chacha says is this halwa that you just eat it and complete it? Mrinalini says halwa will become of us, we will become a joke, first Vishaka signed the divorce papers and now Shastriji with this vrat. Chachaji says someone who walks on malmal, a guy whose servants lift his luggage, how will he do this. Arjun says it is impossible, 20km distance between temples, I feel he cannot even walk 20 steps.
Back at the Shastri house, Amma says Lalla, Devki is right, son-in-law is going through torture, if God himself is putting so many obstacles, this means this is not God's will that this marriage happens, God is against this wedding. Shastriji looks on and says if God was against this, he would not have help me found a solution to this, now if he has shown us a way, we have to follow it. Amma goes to sit down and then stops by Radhika and says this girl, whoever even comes by her shadow will have only sadness, only sadness, see you thought of marrying him and so much hardship he has to suffer. Radhika goes inside and Amma tries again, she goes to Shastriji says you are not thinking of son-in-law, why did you tell him of such a difficult vrat? Radhika is in her room and says yeh jo such bhi ho raha hai kanha, in sabki zimmedaar main hoon (whatever is happening is my fault),because of me he has to follow such a difficult vrat and take so much hardship, I cannot see him in pain. Just then she sees a hand on her shoulder, it is Devki. She says Ma, canwe not stop him from doing such a difficult fast? he is doing penance for a sin he never committed, no Ma, there is no need for him to do this, we will tell everyone the truth. If we tell everyone the truth, then he will not need to do this. Dev says my daughter, like you, even I am in this difficult situation- on the one hand it is your father's honor and the other side is my son-in-law's honor; on one hand is is your father's life and on the other side my son-in-law's pain. Devki says bitiya par main tere babuji ka jivan sankat main nahi dal sakti (but daughter, I cannot put your father's life in danger), if he knows the truth, he will not be able to live. We can just pray than Kanha will give your husband enough strength that he will be able to complete this difficult vrat. Devki leaves and Radhika prays (jagjit singh hare krishna song is playing).
Part 4
The next morning there is chanting of Dev Rajpurohit. The chariot is ready and Dev gets out of his car in a white dhoti and orange cloth on top. He goes and touches Dadi's feet and Dai says Dev you are the Rajpurohit, that is why you need to keep such a difficult vrat, if you were not Rajpurohit then you would not need to do this. Dadi folds her hands and says main apne purvajon ki taraf se tujhse maafi maangti hoon jinhone itne katthor niyam panaye aur tujhe palan karne padh rahe hain (I apologize on behalf of my ancestors who made such difficult rules which you have to follow). Dev says Dadi you do not have to apologize, I respect the rules our ancestors created and Dadi, whatever I am about to do, I will get punya/good karma because there will be happiness in everyone's life (he looks at Radhika) and that is what I said to everyone and Dadi I have your blessings so how can I be in pain. He touches Vaishali's feet and then touches Shastriji's feet as well. Shastriji says vijayi bhav (may you be successful). Dev says I am ready to begin, Shastriji says it is good if you start, you can complete all 5 temples on time, start now. Dev then touches Vivek's feet and then goes and sits with a priest to begin the puja.
Meanwhile, Devki and Amma are at home, Devki says Amma are you ready we have to go to the ghat. Amma says what do you want to see how Dev takes permission to marry Radhika and take away Vishaka's rights? Amma says I will be sitting here and do jhaap that he does not finish this task. Devki says what are you talking Ammaji, we are giving Radhika that right that we snatched from her, the girl who did so much for us, can we not do this much for her? Amma gets up and says tell me what has she done? Devki says do I have to count what she has done, you know for Vishaka's happiness, she has sacrificed her own happiness. Amma says to koi ehsaan na kiyo hai, ee ghar ne usse ahsray diyo hai, naam diyo hai, khaana paani diyo hai (she hasn't done us a favor, this house gave her a name, house and food), she cannot do this much for us. Devki says whatever you say, Radhika is such a daughter whose deeds I cannot repay in this lifetime, I am going to the ghat to give support to Dev. Amma says even I am coming to see how Radhika's bad luck turns into good, come let's go.
The puja has begun for Dev, the priest ties a red thread, Amma and Devki reach the ghat. Radhika watches on. The priest blesses 5-6 pots of water. The priest says Dev please fill these pots with water, Dev gets up and fills water from the river and everyone is watching. Dev fills the pits and then puts it in his chariot. Family members are upset to see Dev suffer.
Part 5
Dev fills the chariot and then puts the rope for the chariot around his shoulder and starts pulling. The chariot does not move, there is resolve on Dev's face and he keeps pulling. Villians are smiling. Radhika sees a big rock in front of the chariot and scream out. Dev stops and removes the stone and then goes back and starts again. This time the chariot moves, the villians are upset. Shastriji folds his hands and prays and so does Dadi. Dev keeps pulling the chariot and the family is behind him. Mrinalini stops walking and says we can go home and relax, Arjun says you don't find any fun in this drama? Chacha comes and Mrinalini says you said he would not be able to walk 20 steps but he has started. Chacha says for 3 days without food, he has to roam 5 temples, here everyone is praying for his success and we three will be praying for his failure, Chacha tells them to walk on. Radhika is walking by Dev as he is pulling the chariot. Everyone is chanting his name.
Radhika goes to devki and says can I not help him, I am equally responsible, can I not help him? Amma says you have done enough, after stealing Vishaka's happiness, what else is left to do. Radhika says Amma I tried my best to see Vishaka remains happy but if she left him on her own what is my fault in that? Amma says make as many excuses as you can, in your life with Dev there will be many because it is not in your fate to be with him. Radhika looks at Dev and says main nahi jaanti mere bhaag main likha hai, main itna zaroor jaanti hoon ki unke kasht baatna mera dharm hai (I do not know what is in my fate but I know it is my duty to share his pain), whatever pain he goes through, I will also suffer the same pain. Radhika is walking the same path watching Dev. Dev ses the sun come overhead and continues on. The rest of the family is behind. dadi gets tired and Vaishali says Birju please take Dadi to the car. Vaishali says what is the need to have Dev do this. So many couples separate, what is Dev's fault when his own wife left him? It is my heart to stop him.
Part 6
Vaishali says there is no need to follow this, Dadi says I understand Bahu, I have been the mother of a RP< I understand what you are going through. If Dev being an Rp does not complete this, he will fall in his own eyes and I know my Dev, he will destroy himself but he will not let the RP name and honor slip away. Dadi says come let's go.
Meanwhile, Dev is at the steps of a temple taking water upto the temple and everyone is watching him clean the steps of the temple and washing the God's feet. Dev then starts pulling the chariot again, Radhika is by his side. Dev reaches the 2nd temple, then starts his journey again. Dev reaches the 3rd temple and then does abhishek of the 3rd. He then continues, Dev looks tired, Radhika is in tears. IT is nearing sunset. He finishes the 4th temple and then finally the 5th. His family is watching. Dev is doing abhishek of the 5th and final temple.Dadi says first day's puja is completed successfully. Dev says I will wait her tonight and I want you all to go home, I do not want you to suffer. Dev tells his mother, it is my request all of you go home, and Radhika you haven't eaten or drank, you also go and drink water. Radhiks says no, jab tak aapka vrat purna nahi hota, main kuch nahi khaaongi (till your vrat is over, I will not eat anything). Amma is upset. Radhika says till day after tomorrow evening, I am on nirjala vrat, Dev looks at her. Shastriji and the rest of the family looks on. Radhika tells Shastriji, can I make a request, can I stay here with him and take care of him? Shastriji says ok, take care of Dev. Devki smiles, amma is unhappy. Shastriji says goodbye and both families leave.
Part 7
Dev goes and sits down, Radhika sits next to him. Dev says you shouldn't have kept nirjala vrat for 3 days, if something happens to you then? Radhika says na aapka prem mujhe haarne dega aur nahi mera prem aapko haarne dega (my love wont let you fail and neither will your love let me fail). Dev looks up at her. Radhika says jis prem ke liye aap itna kasht utha sakte hain, kya uss prem ke liye main yeh nirjala vrat nahi rakh sakti? (for the love that you are takign so much pain, can I not take this vrat for the same love?) Dev smiles, Radhika says please take rest, tomorrow at sunrise you have to start again. Baawre naina is playing, Dev is sleeping, Radhika is awake thinking and looking at Dev's feet which are swollen and red. Radhika gets up and wipes his feet with her dupatta, she warms the dupatta with air from her mouth and applies it on his feet.
Next morning, Dev gets up and then starts again his journey of 5 temples. Dev is struggling to move the chariot, Radhika is watching him in pain. It is sunset again, Mrinalinin says great, the 2nd day is also gone, I think that by thinking of Dev as a kaccha khiladi(novice player), we made a big mistake. Chachaji says between 2nd sunset and 3rd sunrise, there is also a night and anything can happen at night. Mrinalini looks on.
