Anu,
Thank you for that post. I have watched the scene several times and really thought about your words and their relevance
I think that the moment was too beautiful for words. Radhika a girl enslaved by the expectations of society, for one moment in her devotion forgets herself and is therefore able to truly be herself. Watching it I could not believe that she could dance with such abandon. Yes, I think it is that fundamental inaccessibility of her that captivates Dev. There is that part of Rads that no one will ever possess. While she lives for others, there is a part that can not be given. I think it is this riddle that is Rads
I will say the brilliance of Rubina in this scene. She was able to bring out Rads innocent sexuality here. Rads is so captivating, because she is not aware of her beauty, or her brilliance. Therefore her innocence makes her more seductive. And this song is indeed about a natural seduction.
What touched me about this scene was Dev. The way he looked at her was yes, with raw desire. Dev looked dead for a while on this show and you could see the life force go back in him. But his look was deeper than sexual desire. He had wanted Rads to return to that original happy state that he found her in. After all their anguish, he was appreciating her happiness in a selfless way. I saw that there too.
What also so touched me about this scene was a father singing to his daughter. Part of the message of the song (stripped of it sexuality) is how the inner and outer beauty of Radhika gives life (water, food, etc) to all that surround her.
Rads gave Shastriji a reason to live. She gives him life. To me it was beautiful to watch Rads celebrate Shastriji's return from the dead. Her dance was a celebration of that I think as well. She looked so content watching her father be happy. I could see the peace emanating from her. So to me this was about also the life that she gives these two men.
