Does TV need a censor board too?
There has to be a regulatory board rather than any government body or there'll be other problems like corruption.
Shekhar Suman:
TV censorship is definitely the need of the hour and much more than films. There has to be a regulatory board rather than any government body or there'll be other problems like corruption. Talking of the participants' choice; they'd be ready to strip tomorrow if you pay them! About democratic views, why not let nudists exist; if you have a problem turn your gaze away!

Dheeraj Kumar:
Self-censorship is the best form of censorship. But those who are in the business of content creation in TV must restrict themselves keeping in mind the Indian families. It is our responsibility to create content which is accepted by the norms of society.
Neena Gupta:
What is a censor board? There will be five people with an opinion. It's about how they perceive things. How can that be applied to an entire nation? What's good and what's not is very subjective. It's difficult for a team of five or six people to decide for all.
Ajai Sinha:
This topic amuses me. Censorship, I believe, is needed for the kind of programming that's being put out, where rather than progressive, the content is regressive. We don't need a censor board to snip a particular scene or a track for TV.
Alok Nath:
As a society there are certain norms and regulations a human being has to live by. For a certain age-group and mindset, censorship is not required. However, in a country like India where people are largely uneducated, a certain amount of censorship is required. But don't forget the remote is in your hands.
Archana Puran Singh:
I don't even stand for censorship in films, forget television! It's time we in India are given our due as responsible, intelligent adults who don't need any kind of moral policing. We should not talibanise or censor things people want to see, eat or wear or who to worship or what kind of sexual preferences to have. For me, any kind of censorship treads on my fundamental right, that of freedom of choice.
Ronit Roy:
The best kind of television censorship in our industry already exists. As far as impressionable minds are concerned, it's all about parental control and for others like the family, it's the remote control. In my knowledge, any other form of censorship will take a very long time to formulate, implement and monitor.
Annu Kapoor:
Generally speaking, we lack discipline and honesty in our society and we have been notorious for raising irrelevant issues while forgetting the important. So if we all, including the media, don't implement a self regulatory code, then we should be ready for TV censorship. Every individual must take the responsibility towards the nation and society.
