Tripadvisor.com is a great site, it's saved me from booking the wrong hotel more than once (thanks to the user recommendations & pics). I tend to have it open alongside expedia.com when booking any travel plans.

And of course, wunderground.com to check the weather!

Well I always prefer using Menupages.com to plan my travel in US. And when I'm in India I'll go with yatra.com for planning my trip.
