'You better hang me, sir,' Salman!

"You better hang me, said the Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Jodhpur court yesterday, while pleading that his trial in the black buck poaching case of 1998 be heard fast and judgment delivered promptly.
Salman pleaded with additional judicial magistrate Brijendra K Jain, saying he was fed up with the trials and whatever punishment was to be dealt out should be given immediately.
Salman was appearing for the final recording of his statement in the case. But the judge said the delay wasn't the court's fault. "It's you who remained absent from the hearing on many occasions," said Jain.
However, the judge acceded to Salman's request to speed up the hearing. Salman is held accused in four cases. One is the chinkara poaching case on the outskirts of Jodhpur on the night of September 26-27, 1998. Another on the night of September 28-29, 19998, for hunting black buck. Two other cases are under the Arms Act and for poaching.
