How I got my foothold in the industry

Getting a foothold in the television industry is not an easy task. You do get opportunities but making use of it the right way is where the challenge lies. I too have undergone a lot of struggle during the initial days. It took almost five years to get a foothold in this industry.

Before Ramayan I had acted in a Tamil 3D film called Mayavi. It was a huge hit down south and I managed to get huge number of fans there. When I got an opportunity in Ramayan and started playing Ram, I was quite sceptical. I lacked confidence and did not know how the audience would react. But slowly things changed, people started accepting me as Ram and I also started to enjoy acting in the show. I must say that Ramayan was a lifetime experience.

Now that Ramayan is over, anybody and everybody I meet has only one question - what next? I am happy for me to know that so many people are waiting eagerly for my next show. All I can say is that I won't disappoint them. I will definitely do something, reality or otherwise, that is up to their expectations.

After Ramayana, Debina and I went to Puri's famous Jagannath temple. She had taken a vow that if the show ended successfully, we would go to the temple and offer a puja. I had never been to the Jagannath Temple and it was a very nice experience for me to be there. Both of us prayed and thanked the Almighty for the success we got in our first show together.

When we reached there it was during the Rathyatra. It was very crowded and since we were not in our screen attire, we thought people would not recognise us. But in no time they did. And since most people live in small huts in and around the temple, they requested us to spend some time in their homes. And we obliged. Then there was another family which wanted us to have food with them. They waited for a long time for us to return from the temple and then have food with them. It was very touching for us. And embarrassing at the same time because we were just actors in the serial and nothing else.

Debina and I have joined acting classes now to hone our skills. I am doing a special course in action as well and hopefully this will help us in our future projects.

Debina and I plan to establish our career first and then get married. We don't have any plans of getting married in the near future

Woooooo he is looking soooo sweet and adorable.I hope that if gurmeet and debina would do a western dance and gurmeet bhaiya should wear this outfit only and debi should wear a light blube or gurmi's tie's colour's frock.My god bhaiya u are ready to marry.I think after reading this new, many girls will die, Unki raato ki chain aur neend ud jaan gi. 😆😆😆
