Flaunting Their Homes & Cars! |

Is it a case of the nouveau riche syndrome or simply that our television actors just cannot handle the unexpected (or undeserved) fame and money? a humble breed as compared to their small screen counterparts. It wasn't very long ago when television actors aspired for the money and fame that film actors enjoyed. It was every small screen actors dream to make it to the big screen. Film was regarded as the Mecca for every actor. Surprisingly, not so any more. Actually it's not really surprising! After all, why should television actors trade their meaty roles for sidey roles especially when the small screen is giving them more than what they had even dreamt of! We are not just talking about money but also the wide exposure. But the sad and amusing bit is the way the small screen actors handle their fame and money. Most of the times they end up going overboard with it and end up becoming a laughing stock. While their filmi counterparts keep their new acquisitions under wraps, the TV actors love to show it off! Flaunting their new homes and cars is becoming a fashion statement of sorts. Recently Manish Goyal bought a car for his wife, Poonam Narula, and sure enough the next day the pictures of wifey proudly displaying the car and her passion for driving was splashed across the pages of a tabloid. Narayani Shastri bought a Safari Dcor and made sure that most tabloids carried pictures of her in different poses with the car. The interesting bit is she even mentioned its price willingly. The way she has been going on and on about her car, one almost feels like she's bought a Mercedes. The next best thing after cars is their homes. It could be the house they've just bought or their already existing ones. So far celebrity homes were very personal and private properties. At the most they were featured in Interior Magazines for their unique dcor (understandable) but now television actors are very eager to have the media all over their homes. It's actually a matter of pride for them to have their journalist friends invade the privacy of their homes and splash it across a page with even pictures of them relaxing in there. Either they hate privacy or believe in letting their audience enter their homes exactly the way they have made a place for themselves in their viewers' homes. Their modus operandi is letting journalists see their lavish homes by insisting that they come home for interviews rather than on the sets. TV actors like Tassnim Sheikh, Rohit Roy and Rajeev Khandelwal are said to be very open to the idea of inviting journalists home for coffee and conversation. Besides display their homes, they like to display the contents of their wardrobes and even empty their shopping bags for public consumption. Some time back Rohit Roy and Manasi Joshi Roy's house was featured in a leading tabloid. Incidentally the duo is a huge party animal and is written about more for their attendance at parties rather than their shows on air. This is the latest fad of TV actors. They make it a point to attend all the parties that they are invited to and in turn throw lavish birthday parties. They don't forget to invite the media. On the flip side there are some actors who don't attend parties but throw lavish parties. One such actor is Anuj Saxena. He threw two parties last year; one for the launch of his production house, Maverick, and the other for the completion of his film, 'Lips-The Kiss of Death' (which was slated for release last year but one still hasn't heard of its release date so far!). Both parties were attended by a good number of television actors. According to a bitch, this high attendance was not because Anuj shares a great relationship with his contemporaries and they turned out in large numbers to just be part of his success. The fact that Anuj is a more known name than most of them and his media savvy ways ensured that his party would be well covered by all publications. Is it a case of most TV actors seeing big money for the first time? If you recall, TV actors once were paid a pittance but today daily soaps offer them unheard of amounts. We wonder if this is just an obsession to show off their suddenly acquired wealth or a desperate bid to attract the Income Tax authorities and create trouble for themselves! After all, any kind of publicity sounds good enough for them. If its publicity then there are some amusing tidbits that we would like to share with our readers. Recently Karishma Tanna was gifted a dog on her birthday, which she gifted to Riva Bubber. Later she took it back from Riva because she was missing it. Publicity out of such personal incidents too! Not only was she willing to speak about it but even circulated pictures to the media. Television actor, Hussain, got married last month and made sure that no press photographer was around. A wedding is a very personal affair, he emphasized. But sure enough, two days later he made sure that his wedding pictures reached every publication. Anything for publicity still holds strong for TV actors. Kushal Punjabi, whose suffered injuries during a shoot last year not only SMSed scribes but even got photographs of him lying in the hospital bed clicked and circulated. A while back, Sandeep Rajora announced to all that he had won ten lakhs in 'Fear Factor'. But the show still hasn't gone on air and naturally one is not supposed to speak about it. TV actors also love to behave in a vulnerable manner every time something negative is written about them. They even call up the publication and complain about the scribe as well as the publication to anyone who is willing to lend a patient ear. But soon they want to speak to the same journalist about new developments in their love life or career. But we have that we have to mention actors like Anuj Saxena and Ronit Roy who are exceptions to the rule. They prefer to maintain their humble and private natures and refrain from don't talk about their riches, cars or homes to get publicity. Wish other actors take a lesson from them and conduct themselves in a classy manner rather than being petty and stupid. Before we end we would like to point out that flaunting their cars and new homes besides their personal details doesn't really get them work and frankly makes no difference to their fans. |
